i'm tempted to join and explain what unpleaseable fan base really means....
I'd explain it better but I'm hampered by the nature of forum. I can't just come out and say "It's an unpleasable fanbase because one third of her fans are average comic book fans, one third of them see her as a holy feminist icon who can't be sullied, and one third of them are sweaty guys who spend their time jacking off to pictures of her being tied up, humiliated, tortured or even killed." You just can't do that on GitP.
It is very much the case that characters that cannot be sullied, that have become more icons than actual characters, make for bad storytelling.
Now that I think of it, the kerfuffle over Man of Steel might have a bit of this going on, too. For what it's worth, I'm not a huge fan of the Wonder Woman costume that was linked. And, it is the colors. I don't need her to have a star spangled one-piece, but that one does seem a bit dull. It might read better on screen when they are done, though. For what it's worth, I actually liked the Man of Steel Superman outfit, though I'm not sure if that makes me an outlier.
All that being said, Xena isn't a bad place to start with a Wonder Woman film character. I hope it's not where they start
and finish, but WW is also one of the most fraught characters out there.
For what it's worth, that thread was pretty asinine ...
