Why in the everloving, monkeyfucking, cockjuggling thundercunt is it so hard to talk D&D to people? When you try to explain that, no, restricting a player's sources to Core + 1 book isn't toning casters down, it's screwing fighters over, and that not positing a power level you want your game to run at is just asking to have a party consisting of a Wizard, Cleric Archer, a Bard and a Fighter with toughness gets people so fucking pissed off?

No, 'trouble' would be running into a Pathfinder fanboy that provides no sources for his claims (which also happened today) of Pathfinder 'fixing' 3.5 and that Pathfinder is 'what 4.0 should have been'. That's a simple solution - ignore his fucking idiot ass, especially after he jumped on me for providing primarily factual claims about how Pathfinder differs from 3.5 when a prospective DM asked if 'Pathfinder' and 'D&D 3.5' are not virtually the same.

All I want is to get a game going for myself and a friend where we can play our characters - a Steel Dragon Wyrmling and a Strongheart Halfling Cleric (with or without ToB heading into Ruby Knight Vindicator). But I keep running into people who are, quite frankly, basketweavers who don't want to fucking come out and say it. If you just came out and said "I want a low power game", fucking FINE. I have ZERO problems with that and will fuck off elsewhere. If you say you want a game that doesn't restrict classes and then get upset when a person wants to play something that's allowable under your rules just because it's a little higher optimization than you're used to, even if it's suboptimal, then fucking come right out and admit that you want to focus on lower power instead of backpedaling like a goddamned child.

FUCK. YOU. WIZARDS. Yet ANOTHER fucking edition where you leave out the FUCKING GNOMES YET AGAIN because, I don't know, you've been taking daily doses of Tolkien UP YOUR ASS along with your FUCKING HEADS. EVERY goddamned official campaign setting relies on Gnomes in some fucking way. Forgotten Realms relies on them to be Gond Priests. Dragonlance needs Mount Nevermind. Eberron has an entire goddamned HOUSE that Gnomes manifest one of the more important goddamned dragonmarks, not to mention the FUCKING LIGHTNING RAIL and the MOTHERFUCKING AIRSHIPS all rely on the Gnomes of motherfucking Zilargo. Not including them BREAKS YOUR SETTINGS.

Now now, we can't have these sci fi things like gnomes and psions in our realistic medieval simulator.  That would be like allowing monks.

(I thought the gnomes were only left out of the basic, but would be in the full PHB, admittedly "uncommon races" which means nothing to me.  I will say though I agree their exclusion is odd, and I found it odd in 4e too.  Gnomes were always PCs, not monster tier for me.)

It wouldn't surprise me if they're left out entirely again. Hayzeus Creesto. It pisses me off especially because when I'm not playing weird things like dragons and Elan and awakened dire tigers I play gnomes. 90% of the time if you ask me what kind of character I'm playing, 'Gnome' will be in there somewhere. Rarely, halfling. If you boot up an MMO and ask me to make a character, I'll look for a small race, or go straight for gnome, or make a character as small as possible. DDO really pissed me off because hey, no gnomes. Fuck you. And MOST Of the time, this hate is justified, because MMOs who include halflings but not gnomes usually put some ugly-ass sideburns on them. I'm 6'2 IRL, I just want to pretend I'm 3ft tall for a couple hours, is that TOO FUCKING MUCH to ask?
