I don't feel pretty or funny, yet I've been told, on multiple occasions, by multiple people, that I am. In recent times, even, and none of those people were my mom.

Trust me. Sometimes one's perception of self can be INCREDIBLY off-base.  Especially if you're feeling down in the dumps.

Depending on how you look at it, that's actually a GOOD thing.

Depression is very dependant on your own perception working against you. One of the key symptoms really. So if you're depressed, you should NOT trust your perception, especially in matters that concern yourself.

Your brain on depression is its own worst critic.

Do you at least believe that I speak this in the interest of seeing you get better?

It's not that.  I was going to say that if I was a catch then someone would be interested in me, but someone is.  Two someones in different ways, one of which is off limits and one that I'm not interested in.

Neither of them are the point because the woman I'm trying to be with is turning me down for reasons that don't make sense.  I know she wants to be with me, she said so not too long ago.  And I turned her down for reasons that are as complicated as they are dumb.

I hate this.

Let's make it simple then.

There are dozens of reasons why one should not date another.

But you only need ONE reason to date someone.

Because you really, really want to.

Anything else is overthinking. Unnecessary. If there's something you really fucking want, you'll find a way to make it work.

Cognitive dissonance. Happens when I'm obstinate, but that's not important. 

Y'know what I said about dozens of reasons not to do something? Yeah, those are really, really easy to make up.

If she's already told you she, too, wants to be with you, then you have no conflict of interest, and all it would really take is persistence.

No argument resists complete and utter ignorance of it. Sometimes it actually takes not listening to something to make it work.
