... February? With regards to actually approaching professionals, sometime maybe November?

People as a whole? About four years now.

Really?  Huh, could have sworn you at least mentioned it here earlier....then again, my sense of timing could be WAY off....

Oh well, hopefully it wasn't too hard once it came out to family?  You mentioned you were worried until August, but you're not worried now?  THat's good if it's the case.

Well, I never expected anyone to take my side. My father's 73 now, I definitely didn't expect his support. But got that. So I have my parents on my side, and I don't really associate with the rest of my family directly. Spend most of my time the other end of the country. All in all, what anyone ELSE I'm related to thinks is irrelevant. I don't have to deal with them.

And you have us as well :)

Also, how is your father 73?!  Aren't you, like, 20?

20 in November, yes. And yes, my father's over half a century older than I am.

All my grandparents, as of May, are dead, too.

Unfamiliar with this gender issue, though I suppose I can guess.

On the matter of moving out, I ended up doing so (probably late for my age) and had spent about a year in freedom before I had to return.  I failed the first time, but succeeded on the second attempt.  That's another story though, and probably has everything to do with my location and the whole economic crash that happened just then.  Anyway, the thing that helped me survive that entire time was my savings I had.  Do you have any?  More importantly I found the best way to save was actually to set up X amount being missing from my funds right from the beginning, so I never got used to my full salary and thus was never thinking about the savings.  Then I would be pleasantly surprised when I had whatever dollars saved up for a rainy day.  Pun not intentional.

Oh, and pre-emptive happy birthday.

Running out isn't an issue, because of meandering vaguely socialist government policies. Unless I'm a fucking idiot, I have accommodation--it's basically for the sake of university. More, you know, the practical issues of being hundreds of miles from home and having a cooking repertoire that overly relies on cheese and bacon. :lmao

Darn you Europeans and your sensible policies.   :shakefist  How dare you help people out.

Well cooking is fun, I consider it a form of alchemy.  I'm more than happy to swap random cooking things I come across.  It's just me and my cat, so I still have whatever cooking skill I picked up at random.

And I made a kickass tomato bisque recently.

Watching cooking-related shows is beginning to make me regret picking computers over food for 'what type of career should I go into'. >_>;

I wonder if cooking shows are like cooking shows in America.  I bring it up because yesterday I witness the most terrifying cooking show ever.  It was just idlying while I was troubleshooting my mother's computer.  Seemed normal, generic southern cooking themed show, whatever.  "Today we're gonna make Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes!"  Sounds good.  "Here's the mashed potatoes."  Seems normal.  "Now we add a little butter."

She put three sticks of butter in.

Three.  Sticks.

Now, I like my butter, I really like my butter, but I went "What are you doing!?"  She then proceeded to add more stuff, cooked it, and then added... an entire new stick of butter.

Then used two sticks of butter on French bread.

And two sticks of butter to pour over her meat roast.

I realized, with her large fake smile and the cut aways to her "family" activities I realized this wasn't a cooking show.  This was a snuff film.  These were these peoples lasts moments before they died of MASSIVE HEART FAILURE.

Holy crap, so much butter....

So you watched Paula "butter sculpture" Dean.

Also, we DO have a food thread buried somewhere in the off topic forum...

:lmao I believe it, I bet she found a way to eat it.  What a terrifying concept.

Also found it, it was the pioneer woman, pioneering new ways into horrifying food products.

I'm pretty much deciding what my career will be in a couple of days.

My basic options are Law, Publicity and PR. Mostly for economic reasons...

So my options are basically...

- Go into a job - any job - with an inherently flawed system that's being systematically torn apart by government agencies.
- Perfect my ability to lie to people to the point where they'll buy anything. This, of course, when I hate hypocrisy and have spent the better part of the past five years forging a policy of truth for myself.
- Become a small-scale diplomat, minus the travelling, and making sure the image of some company or another remains squeaky clean regardless of what kind of policies they employ. So, lying again, or at the very least picking my words extraordinarily carefully - something I'm not very good at.

All this while aware that my anxiety over the issue is likely coloring my perception. I'm probably seeing ghosts here. I don't want to choose, but I HAVE to.

I was doing that. Pretty exactly.

I was going for programming coding stuff, and some dabblemancy in computer graphics & design, cause I kinda understand it being around it my whole life with my dad being a programming god  :rolleyes

I'm a Chef now.

It feels ironic, then, to me, that I ended up working at Google anyways. It's like I was going to end up here anyways whichever path I took  :D

You realize what you have to do.

Roll 1d4 and refer to your chart.
