"Let's search the room beyond our re-departed friend's abode."

Galadren suggests.

"We won't need to push open any doors and make noise that way.  And if it loops around the way the rest of this complex has on itself, we can hit anyone hiding from an unexpected angle."

The group moves through the door and to the right at the intersecting hallway, Dunor and Galadren in their lead positions, retracing their steps to the chamber where they put an end to the wraith. Even with the undead menace gone, the room still has a palatable feeling of dread.

The party quickly leaves the thrown room of the wight, fearing the dead rising. The light of Tulugaq's sunrod banishes the darkness from the  pillared hallway ahead and reveals a room beyond. A hulking being stalks around the room and once it realizes who is coming down the hall throws itself at you in a frenzied fervor but slams into an invisible barrier.

Standing at the rooms entrance you can see that barrier must extend between four large stone columns covered in sigils.

When Sertanian catches a glimpse of what is ahead he gasps, "What in the name of....what is that hideous thing?" the color leaching from his wrinkled features his hands tremble to the point that his spear rattles against his wooden shield.

Galadren hefts his crossbow as the thing rushes into the light, although pauses when the creature seems to run into an invisible barrier.

"So . . . since it's stuck in there shall we just put some arrows in it?  Or talk to it?"

Shrugging, Galadren raises his voice slightly, addressing the imprisoned thing.

"Hey!  Ugly!  Can you talk or are you the ugliest pet that the world has ever seen?"

"An Evistro, a demon from the chaotic abyssal planes." Shandien answers the old man's question. Concentrating for a moment he frowns, "I am not able to get a good sense of the magic containing the creature, it must be powerful."

"Then that means we need to keep looking.  No one we have encountered has the power to summon such a thing, let alone restrain one."

Looking slightly concerned, Theo leans out from behind his friends and looks at the creature. "I'm more concerned with if the magic dissipates rather than who cast it in the first place to be honest"

"Lets be out of sight of this monsterous thing." the old man urges the group.

"I share Theo's concerns.  I also wonder why this is here...." Tanthalus says.

"Want me to see if a crossbow bolt can go through whatever's keeping this beastie back?"

Galadren asked, eyes narrowed as he regards the creature now that he knows it is a demon.

"While we don't know why this thing is here and probably won't ever know, I'm not sure I like the idea of leaving it at our backs, or free to go on a rampage whenever the magic of this place does fail."

"Perhaps, and it may be that anything from the material would would interrupt its binding magic but that is awfully risky. It could also be entering the room without a certain phrase will drop it and release the demon." Shandien says, "We could stand here all day and theorize how it could be released, but eventually we will need to go in if we intend to complete what we set out to do here. How can we best prepare in the case it does get released on us?"

Galadren looks appraisingly at the foul creature and its magical prison.

"Well, this guy doesn't seem like the type to be very smart, nor to run away from a fight.  So why don't we just have Dunor and Shandien in front to block the hallway, then the rest of us all blast him at once.  Either whatever's keeping him in will block our attacks, or they'll pass through and fry him.  If whatever's keeping him there lets him out after we fire, then you'll just have to hold him back while we give him another taste."

Tanthalus nods, not much of a strategist.  "Whatever you think is best."

"Then lets do this." Shandien concurs. The group moves into the formation that Galadren suggests. On three, we will let fly at beast. One...Two...Three" Pulling a javelin as he goes, upon reaching three he launches it at the magical prison.

Galadren brings his crossbow up to his shoulder, unleashing a bolt that explodes into a swarm of stinging motes of light.
