Dunor grumbles. He didn't like the idea of attacking the demon like this, but he didn't see any other way around it, either. Especially with the group's mind made up.
He stands in a defensive stance, ready to protect his allies if anything happens.

The javelin and crossbow bolt fly through the air. The bolt bursts into motes of light. A ray of searing divine power slices toward the demon. All slam into the invisible barrier holding the beast caged and are stopped short of their mark. These serve only to anger the demon more as it sends itself beating against the barrier with rage.

"Huh.  Well that was disappointing."

Galadren grunts as he reloads his crossbow.  With a shrug, he shoulders the weapon and then walks into the room without a second thought.
He goes over to what Shandien's javelin fell after striking the invisible wall, and doesn't blink at the slavering beast as it continues to rage against the wall less than a foot away from him.

"Guess it's perfectly safe - time to move on.  Bye-bye beastie!  Have fun in there for the *next* thousand years!"

Galadren offers with mocking cheer, saluting the demon with Shandien's javelin before handing it back to the swordmage.

"Now then - looks like there's a passage off to the north.  Shall we investigate?"

The elf heads in that direction without further thought, walking around the pillars presumably outlining the dimensions of the invisible wall to the north, paying no further heed to the creature caught within.

Accepting the weapon back, "Thank you, yes lets continue." Shandien says following him.

Moving off around the invisible cage, the group heads to the hallway on the northern wall. As Dunor rounds the corner to the hall, a ratlike head pops out from behind a pillar across the room and says, "I release you, Crypt Guardian!" and rolls back around the pillar. The demon's latest leap at the barrier is not stopped and it launches itself at the rear of the group.

At this *totally unexpected* development, a low, exasperated growl comes from Galadren's throat.

"Are you fucking KIDDING me!?  What kind of IDIOT designed this place!?"

Thespias moves his feet right away and slams his back to the pillar unleashing a fury of lightning toward the demon. The bolt slams into the pillar opposite as the demon crouches under the oncoming electricity.

The wererat who released the demon rushes from one pillar to the next and then slips into the hallway behind Tulugaq.

Dunor rushes over to try and lure the demon's attention away from Tulugaq. He slashes at the creature, but its reaction time must be too great as it dodges his attack. However, Dunor brings the other edge of his sword in a quick slash, correcting for his previous mistake.

Dunor's blade sinks deeply into the demon while it gets scorched by divine flame. Shandien wades in with his sword arcing and sparking with power. Thunder builds to a boom as the Genasi lashes out at the Evistro.

Galadren sees that the rest of the party is hammering the demon from all sides.  He is about to join in when he notices the slinking figure of the wererat slip into the hallway they just vacated.  After unleashing this thing on them via the dumbest unbinding incantation Galadren had ever heard of, this would simply not do.

"We got a runner!  I'm going after him - Dunor, coming through!"

Ignoring the demon as if it were still trapped behind a wall, Galadren moves around past the pillar, weaves in between Dunor and the demon for a moment, and then circles around to the outsider's south.  Now lined up with the hallway, Galadren breaks into a run, turning it into a summersault past the startled wererat to block the hallway.

"Going somewhere!?"

Galadren snarls at the wererat as he comes back up to his feet, leveling the crossbow at the creature and firing.  He follows this up by pulling the second trigger set slightly ahead of the crossbow's main trigger assembly.

In response, small doors at the tip of the crossbow's frame open up, and a second bolt housed deep within the crossbow itself, comes flying out to contribute to the assault.  Galadren figured whoever had built this magical crossbow was a mad-man, because he had never heard of anyone setting up a second firing assembly inside a crossbow, nor how it worked.  Magic and tiny gears that would have to be turned and levers reset most likely - it would probably take Galadren the better part of an hour or more beside the campfire tonight to fit another bolt inside and turn the tiny crank to reset the interior crossbow.

Still, Galadren hoped that the one-two punch was worth it.

The demon locks eyes for a moment with the warlock as he disappears filling its minds with the unfathomable. Appearing behind the creature by several paces, the warlock unleashes a blast of dark energy that scorches the demons hide.

Galadren's bolts prove difficult to dodge the first drawing a line of blood before the other sinks into the Wererat.

(click to show/hide)

The demon swipes his claws in an arch backing the group a step and turns his sights on the old man. Bringing his claws to bare on Sertanien. The man brings his shield up but the sheer force of the blows shatters his fragile arm underneath and he cries out.

The diminutive storm sorcerer sends a bolt of lighting toward the spawn of chaos. The demon leaping out of the way just in time for the bolt to slam into the pillar opposite.

The Wererat steps out from its spot and closes off the route back to Galadren's companions. Galadren avoids its snapping jaws easily.

A second wererat steals from behind another pillar and swiftly moves up behind a distracted Tanthalus.

Dunor mutters some expletives as the Demon slips away from him. He had been poised to bring another strike to bear against the creature, but somehow it was too quick. Dunor changed his stance to appear more imposing, and approached the Demon. He attempts to shove the demon away from Sertranian with a swipe of him weapon, but again his weapon refuses to connect. Perhaps a total change of tactics was in order.
