Scanning the rubble packed hall, "There seems to be enough space at the top to get through here. Want to give me a lift?" Theo asks dusting his fine clothing off.

Shandien looks back at the others and shrugs while giving a boost to the halfling up the rubble pile. Which the halfling then scales like a child climbing a well limbed apple tree to steal fruit.

"Yes, there is still space at the top if we want to climb over." The halfling says at the top.

Tanthalus looks at the rubble pile warily.  "Is it safe?"

"Appears so. Only enough space for one of us to get through at a time."

"Dunor and I should go first then - try to move through quickly and quietly.  Shandien, you bring up the rear, help the rest of the group up and through.  That is, assuming we're going this way."

Galadren looks at the rest of the group for approval of this idea - going in one at a time seems like a bad idea, but if it was their own way through, well . . . they had had to bulldoze their way into a room before now.

"Faster than going around and I would like to check this last spot and get out of here." Shandien says as he put his hand together and bends over to give the next person  a boost over.

Each of you make it over the piled rubble and through the small space at the top without too much difficulty. Even managing to bring the body of the old man through. in an effort to leave no one behind. You are near the bend at the hall which turns off to your left.

You all hear a door click open, and several sets of shuffling feet moving across the floor in the next room before the door swings to a close.

"Quick cover your lights!" the halfling sharply hisses a whisper.

Galadren covers his light - but only for a moment.  As soon as he hears the door grind to a close again he steps out from around the bend in the hallway and throws the much abused sunrod down to the end of the hallway, hopefully illuminating the now (temporarily???) closed door.  A door which he covers with his crossbow, waiting to see if it will open again.  He whispers quietly to his companions.

"Get ready - if that door opens like that again let's rush in.  Hopefully we can take them by surprise the next time if opens - if it opens again."

The sunrod sails into the room and over the heads of six rotting corpses standing in the middle of it. The stand on a black mosaic of a large black circle. Four continue to watch the light but two, glare back at the source of the glowing missile and hiss with pointing fingers which draws the ire of the other four who turn and begin to shamble towards you.

Galadren blinked in surprise a bit as the light sailed into the room through the open, non-blocked doorway.

I really had assumed there was a door there.

Galadren groused, mentally chiding himself for making assumptions like that in this place, even as his reflexes took over and he brought the crossbow up to his shoulder, lining up on one of the two intelligent undead's head.  Assumptions like the one he just made could get people killed.  Oh well - he wasn't dead yet.

Even as the two undead intelligent enough to identify the light turned to point and hiss at the intruders, a crossbow bolt was following the sunrod into the room, aimed directly at the undead's face.  And if it missed, well - the ghostly insect fluttering alongside it would hopefully redirect the bolt into the second undead's face instead.

"Kill those two first."

Galadren suggested as his hands were already working to get a new bolt loaded.

Sorry boys - you really should have just played dumb.

The bolt dissolves into hundreds of motes of light, biting at the undead creature. It swats at them at first but soon accepts the punishing bites.

Dunor rushes in to provide a defensive cover for the group.

"I hear you, but it won't do any good if they swarm us all first. I'll try to hold the foul things off!"
