WotC (3.5 archives issues)
« on: September 20, 2014, 02:35:16 PM »
Last I heard, WotC wasn't going to take down their 3.5 stuff. I'm running into problems with links dying. Something going on I don't know about?

As a precaution, I'm going to go and Site Sucker everything, but if anyone else is having issues, please post.

Well, for many of them, replacing "www" with "archive" seems to work for most of them.
As for others ... it's a little more convoluted.  On some, I've had to go about the following process:
1) grab the link with mouse, drag-n-drop in to search bar (not address bar)
2) this will usually produce the page I'm looking for as the top result -- click on result.
3) now you have the new valid url.

When that doesn't work, I'm lost.

Ah, you need to know the url of the specific article you're looking for.
I know that there's something floating around here that has the link/url for some of the repositories (I want to say that ADMG's avatar found it)

No, that's my other aDMg avatar (the same one).

I put a link up back at wotc C.O. last post on the SurrealDex.

But yeah, they've accidentally done their best board change-over.
The www. into archive. switch is totally do able.

Ah. It seems the "Ask" Articles in the archive have vanished. Just worried it might be a sign. Doesn't matter. Got a copy of everything anyways. Maybe after I get this new job under wraps that'll be my next project. The WE WotC Handbook.

Some of the Candlekeep forum guys are gonna do some wholescale backups of all the 3.5 Forgotten Realms Archived Articles.  That's their primary area of interest ... so it behooves them to so do.  When that happens, I'll link the internet access link to this thread.  Especially since a lot of those articles have a bunch of 3.5 game mechanic crunch in them.

I've just been saving every web page off their site I can find lately due to links being iffy.

I think I have all of The Mind's Eye on my harddrive if anyone needs it (I can zip it all and upload it somewhere). Still incomplete on most of the other series though.

I;d like to be able to find the Savage Progression articles again. I wanted to use them for a post, but I wasn't able to scrounge them up.

You mean these?

FYI, my google search was "d&d savage progression" -- it was the top result.   :clap   :P

Also, here's the Mind's Eye archive.
I betcha can't figure out my search words/phrase ...  :whistle

Has anyone made a list of all the articles they've made sorted by subject? I keep worrying I don't have something cool saved that might be deleted at some point.
