Custom Low Level Negative Energy Healing Item

Long Version:
So one of my fellow players (who is relatively new at D&D) is playing a ghost (4th level OA Samurai, 2nd level ghost using the savage progression from the the wizards web archive). We ran into a stumbling block in that we couldn't find a decent healing item for low level, non-caster, incorporeal undead. Potions theoretically fail half the the time even manifested and can't be carried. He can't use a wand. We considered the options of permanent black sand or a profane poison ring transported to the ethereal plane. Both these options seemed pretty OP though. We also agreed that having him rest for HP constantly would be unfun for everyone.

Short Version:
I've been assigned the task of creating a relatively balanced, low cost (2000gp or less), negative energy item, geared toward healing undead, with limited use per day, but unlimited long term use, thus making having it transported via spell services to the etherial plane economical.

Anyone have any ideas for rules and or fluff for such an item? Also if anyone knows of any existing items that would fit the bill that'd be awesome too, but I haven't seen anything so far.

A wondrous item that has unlimited use-activated castings of Inflict Light wounds is exactly 2,000 gp in market price if it's Caster Level is set to the minimum of 1.
If that is too much, the infinity uses not the price, then just apply a number of charges per day. Pick a number and divide 2000 by whatever the result of 5/#ofchargesperday is.
If 2000 comes across as too cheap, a fully charged wand of the same spell is only 750gp for comparison.

Ah, nice, thanks!

I think I'll use the version with charges so as to avoid having books thrown at me. Without charges that's better than the profane poison ring (attack self, deal 1 damage, heal 1d6 from negative energy), which was already vetoed. I suspect that the infinite use activated thing was more intended for stuff like detect magic.

At higher levels you could always improve it to stronger Inflict spells, that'll fix the price being too low and make it appear more reasonable to acquire :p
