What's a good pitchfork build for an NPC human commoner

Assuming one feat is Martial Weapon Proficiency (Trident), what do you combine with that for a second feat that would synergize with the weapon?

I've already got my torch wielding build with Pyro + Weapon and Torch.

Hmm. Tridents aren't reach weapons, so AoO related feats wouldn't be terribly useful. I don't think throwing feats would really fit, either.

Is PF material kosher? Teamwork feats could be interesting in a mob. Swap Places can be a killer in cramped tactical situations, Lookout could make a mob extremely resistant to ambushes, and Shake it Off can give even commoners great saves.

I wouldn't use a trident, I'd just claim it's a spear (statistically). Leaves you two feats to play with.

Hmm... trying to keep to a relatively strict interpretation of the official rules + errata, but I'll think about both possibilities. Thanks for the ideas.

Thing is, a pitchfork isn't the same thing as a trident at all. It's more visually similar, but that's it.

I'm fairly certain that a pitchfork would be classified as an Improvised Weapon...

Improvised weapon master.
Try looking for a build like that :D

Edit: 2nd ed had a Military Fork and actually calls out Pitchforks simply being improvised versions of these.

I suppose thats true. I could just stick with Scythes. They make pretty solid weapons even though the IRL version is way worse than a pitchfork as a weapon. Combine it with Victor's Luck and one of the commoners has a decent chance to get a nasty x4 crit in. Could also use a 3.5 converted Military Fork.

Hidden Talent feat for Minor Creation, to make poisons.
Item Familiar feat to massively soup-up the trident.

Legacy Champion PrC will simultaneously give you 8 levels of Commoner ...  :tongue

The only official pitchfork stats I've found are from the Ravenloft campaign setting.  There, it's a simple weapon with stats as a trident except that it suffers a -1 penalty on attack and damage rolls.

It's possible some published adventure or issue of Dungeon includes a pitchfork-wielding commoner and thus gives it stats.

DavidWL's Commoner build, is most likely the best you can do.

How about Chicken Infested + Rope Trick item + Cleave based bag-o-rats mini loop ?

Stuff the chickens into the rope trick
Dismiss the rope trick (contingency later)
kill chickens for lots of action abuse

... cept idk how long ago the Cleave + bag-o-rats was discussed.
I'd assume ToB has some nice extenders of this.
(pitchfork/trident would be fluff for this idea)
