It's like where my heart was, there's nothing. I can't form as deep an emotional connection as i once could. I can't feel sympathy like i once did. It's like i just don't give a fuck anymore.

Have you been on anti-depressants?  Inability to connect with people is a common side effect.
Sometimes I think that everything is a common side effect of anti-depressants. They suck so very, very hard. It's too bad that being straight up depressed is worse.

Not always.  Sometimes the side effects are a lot worse.   I got taken off SSRI's because they made me a danger to myself and others due to what are called paradox reactions.

Debt collector wrote me this month.  Apparently an old medical debt was sold to them from someone else it had already been sold to.  Wrote them asking for verification the debt was legit, and that they were the legit owners and they sent me a letter.  I think it's possible it's a medical debt i may owe, but I still have no idea if they're the legitimate owners of it, or how I can get proof of that.  At least 2 other places also claim to hold the debt.

I believe the priest in Warcraft 3 said it best:

Side effects may include: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, water retention, painful rectal itch, hallucination, dementia, psychosis, coma, death, and halitosis. Magic is not for everyone. Consult your doctor before use.

Kind of necro'ed from the last time I checked the thread.

It's a weird ass paradox. The general consensus appears to be that a HD remake of FF7 is what anyone and everyone would want, because GRAPHICS.
FF7 is a good game but looked like crap the day it came out :p

I'd be happy if it looked like FF5, but w/e style you're going for at least try to make it work.

Why would you want an HD remake?

I never understood the whole "EVERYTHING HAS TO LOOK MORE BETTERER" thing that people have going on.
Remakes, including HD remakes, tend to add new features.

FFI's GBA release added a new dungeon & easy mode to the game, it's 20th anniversary release added even more.
FFII's GBA release added a new dungeon, iOS currently has the most added content.
FFIII's 3DS release completely rehauled the class system making it similar to FFV and added character backgrounds and a plot.
FFIV's GBA release saw an increased difficulty, quick save, and a new dungeon.
FFV's GBA release added a new dungeon and a new Necromancer Job.
FFVI GBA release also added a new dungeon, we like super-dungeon/bosses after the main story. Oh, and lots of bug fixes too.
FFVII & FFVIII have "booster" additions, basically click a button to hack in max stat/money/spells. We used to call those cheats.

Final Fantasy is not the only company to package updates & new content with their re-releases. Zelda is great for it.
LoZ:OoT you can finally own the MQ without Ebaying a limited release, it also mirrors the dungeons so if your new to MQ, awesome.
LoZ:WW added a fast sail because that was the most boring part of the game, new hero mode on second play through too.
LoZ:MM tweaked a lot, notably more access like save statues Double Time menu, also added fishing and a new 7th bottle side quest.

Remakes are not just about the graphics. But FF7 is certainly one that needs a face lift, and an Omega Weapon.

You forget the most important thing a FF7 remake should have.

That they actually implement the goddamn code to revive Aeris.
The second time I killed Safer Sephiroth my party consisted of Cloud, Aeris, and Sephiroth. Maybe you were trying to put your codes in the wrong way ;)

... Sometimes I think that everything is a common side effect of anti-depressants ...

[semi-tangent]

Old high school buddy got married.

Yes Dear Anything You Say Dear, changed her mind about having kids right away, but couldn't think of a decent way to go about it.  <if you hear character warning bells going off you're right>  So she started getting Side-Effects from her birth control.  After getting the recitation from my friend, I asked him to read the Side-Effects to me.  Word for word, she got them in the exact same order.  He goes:  " ... OHHHH ... "

I think he finally succeeded his Knowledge(JUMPHOWHIGH!!) check.
 :D

Their son was born <1 year later.  Things didn't work out after that.

I wish I knew enough programming to be able to automate it, and I also wish I could have more accuracy for pi than just what Excel 2003 allows, which is somewhere between 10 and 15 digits I think?

This might be of some help to you:
http://precisioncalc.com/What_is_xlPrecision.html

Excel complies to the IEEE 754 standard which requires precision up to 15 digits. Sucks to be sure but not much can be done about it at this point. (excel 2010 and 2013 also have this issue I think)

This will really be helpful, once I manage to get it working right...  I've downloaded it and installed it several times but it isn't working properly.  I wonder if I might have to reinstall my OS using different settings.

There's also an issue of how many entries I have that might benefit from the tool.  In the documentation it mentions popups that come up every 3 uses of an xlp calculation.  I could easily have over 1,000 entries with the equations and such in it.  @_@

That IEEE standard is indeed still kicking around even though it's fairly outdated now considering computer speeds nowadays.

I found something that'll hopefully be better!  http://download.cnet.com/Arbitrary-Precision-Maths-Library/3000-2053_4-75996125.html

Alas, now I have to redo my previous spreadsheet...  But if it yields something nice then I'll be happy.

Edit:  Damn.  It looks like it still only goes to 15 displayed digits of floating point precision.  I might have to end up learning a programming language that supports arbitrary-precision arithmetic display and calculations to do what I really want to do.  According to this page some languages that should have that option are Lisp, Python, Perl, Haskell, and Ruby.  Hm, even C++ and Java have library support for extended floating points.

If you're wanting to learn something just for a single purpose, for the sake of your own sanity, don't go with Java, C or C++. Perl is a mess, I have no knowledge of Ruby... I'd say Python, because that's easier to learn, but if you're doing something extremely maths heavy anyway, Haskell or Lisp may as well be used, since they're entirely based around mathematical functions. More of a pain to write, though.

I'll see how things go in C++ since there is at least one other thing I'd like to contribute to if I can get proficient enough.  It's a WoW simulator called SimulationCraft.  Eventually I'd like to get all the damage stuff for healing specs in it just for the hell of it.

For the sake of your own sanity, do not start with C or C++. They're extremely user unfriendly, complicated, allow you to directly address memory, tend to have limited checks restricting you from doing enormously stupid things, and in general are better approached with a good idea of how computers actually work in the first place. Java has near identical syntax and is a lot more restricted, thus easier to work with.
