just turned 15

not to defend the ijit, but we did tell him to take an easy class so as not to overload himself..

his latin and art history teacher is the same person / his favorite teacher....

Then, as a teenager, he is clearly exercising his right to sulk brainlessly. Don't mind the whole "asian dad" thing overmuch.  :P

Or, if you want a comeback, remind him that asians tend to grow up to do some really fucking impressive things with single-minded determination!

I have gotten annoyed enough at a module that I'm this close to just saying 'fuck your total inability to run something' and sulking in a corner. Already sent a 850 word email to someone. >_>;

It wasn't a stone, it is an alien egg.  It will hatch soon, and release the shadow terrors onto the world.

Module?

Basically the whole degree is split into modules worth X credits, with a 13-week term and one week break in the middle. The very beginning English one is horribly run and seems, to me, more or less run to be a nightmare unless you're enthusiastic enough about Literature or essay-writing to be able to pass with no teaching at all.

... honestly if I could make it up next year (by, say, just grabbing the psych module as I have a psychology qualification then there's no real loss. It's just... infuriatingly terrible.

Ah, schoolwork.  Something I don't miss about youth.  *Breaks out his cane, his newspaper, and tells the kids to get off his lawn*

While I can't help, you have my curiosity.  What are you studying to become?  Remember, any other answer besides "a vassal in the inevitable Kingdom of Eiji that will dominate the world in 2020" is technically incorrect.

So long as I get to use a computer, IDGAF, really. Even if it's banal and repetitive, I like computers.

Fear not young vassal, in the Kingdom of Eiji we will need many computer savvy people to run the Matrix I plan to hook humanity to during the conversion of your planet into a galaxy-faring vessel.

Someone intentionally spoiled a major plot point of the last book of the Wheel of Time series to me... I am currently on Book 5 of 13.

I was not most pleased
I am reasonably confident that this is a war crime.  You should call the Hague.

P.S.:  this is from someone who totally is not a fan of WoT.  It doesn't really matter on the particular ongoing story, you're invested in it, and they are ruining some of your value of it for reasons that I seriously doubt are good ones, mostly b/c I can't really conceive of what a good one is.

I dunno. It has almost been 2 years since the last book was finished. Spoilers really need a statute of limitations. Also, spoilers may not actually ruin anything, and may make it better

Of course, if he did it just to bug you... that may be different. Out of curiosity, what point did he spoiler?

He spoiled it specifically to ruin my enjoyment and investment in the characters. He is a spiteful douchebag at the best of times.

See, I dunno about that. In a lot of ways, spoiling the specific deaths in Harry Potter are a little anti-climactic. Not quite as bad as saying that Sean Bean's character will die, but still. After all,
(click to show/hide)
is already on a par with 'Rosebud is the Sled,' 'Vader is Luke's father,' 'There is no Tyler Durden,' and 'Bruce Willis was dead all along.'

Of course, if he said that...
(click to show/hide)
Then he is really screwing with you.  :lmao

Sure, the HP thing is the most recent, but still. Also, I feel the need to strongly point out that the fact of XXXXXX's XXXXXXX is immaterial next to the context of the event. You've got to know that this kind of thing will happen, it's the who, why, and where that are important. Just 'cause you know that you'll end your trip in Vegas doesn't make the journey worthless.

Here's the deal: you'll be fine, I promise.
I've read the bulk of that series 5 times (long breaks between books cause me start from the beginning whenever a new one came out) - and I still get choked-up every time I get to the scene I think you're talking about.  That's because the personal impact to the reader is the scene as a whole, not the event (though, how the event goes down is pretty intense in its own right).
I guarantee that if I sat down and read the series yet again, that scene will still have the same effect on me.  As a matter of fact, each of my subsequent read-throughs were even better knowing what was coming -- mainly because I was able to view that character's actions in a different light (though, with your late start, you'll probably not get around to that).

Point being, you'll be just fine.
Though, that dick who dropped the spoiler still needs to be brought to the Hague.  Don't talk to that guy ... about anything ... ever.
And if he did indeed lie to you about who it was .... well, what I've said still stands.
