For my own "rant" (not really a rant... just a dissappointment): I joined a game on another site, I was really excited about the ideas behind the campaign world, and made what I thought would be a fun character... and then in my first post I basically inadvertently ruined the whole character idea for someone else...

They're playing an outsider who is kind of brain-damaged and doesn't know what/who they are, and wanted to RP out "discovering" this... and I'm playing a guy obsessed with the planes...

So having made my knowledge check, I walked up to their character and opened with "So... you're a BLAH BLAH BLAH!? That's cool!"

Game has came to a complete halt at the intro phase now... with some discussion about expectations in the OOC, but nothing at all for 24 hrs... 

I apologized, offered to retract it, explained my actions, even edited my post slightly (to make it a whisper instead of out loud)... basically to no effect... so far at least. I really hope this doesn't kill the game...

I think they're also hugely at fault for having a character idea that works only if the entire game is carefully arranged so that nobody, nobody at all, can identify this particular Outsider.

I agree... but I can't really say that there, can I? Game has started moving again since the other PCs posted their intros, but this person still hasn't posted a response.

Fuck Comcast

just got the X1 system 1-1/2 weeks ago. This is the 3rd fucking secondary box that doesn't fucking work!
the first... Couldn't connect to the DVR and would crash when you tried to search for any damn thing.

the second wouldn't even allow you to watch anything or do anything, despite being on the phone for 1-1/2 hrs. I finished 12 hard Sudoku puzzles while the woman was trying shit.

now, the third? I can watch tv! Oh, but I can't do anything but change the channel slowly, turn the tv on and off, and change the volume. Nothing shows using any other fucking button!

tried for an hour looking online and trying various Comcast recommended (and others) ways to pair, and reset the fucking remote.

my wife hates the new X1 system to begin with, this is the moldy cherry on top. I'm ok w the new system, but not crazy over it.

hopefully, the nice girl that has helped at the Comcast store is able to get us a fucking free tech come out. Otherwise, we're getting another primary box, which defeats the fucking purpose of a housewife system!!!!

very soon, we will drop Comcast tv for good. Those motherfuckers are a cutthroat monopolistic piece of flaming shit!

Yeah! Yeah!  And then you can use.....uh....wow, my only options are ATT and Comcast....yeah...But it's not a monopoly!  There's two!  See?  They TOTALLY aren't artificially raising prices and lowering service.  And it's okay for two of them to merge because they don't compete in the same areas!

We have ATT right now, because the only other option is Comcast.  The service is mostly terrible, and the customer service is actually ok/good.  But it's the best we have.  yay for cartels....

I think all of this stuff is going to slowly move into wireless via cell phone towers/etc. My wife and I came close to switching over to Verizon home internet and cell phones just because we hate comcast so much (and they are literally the ONLY cable internet provider where we live)... but ultimately chose not to, because at the time the service wasn't quite as good and it cost more.

yes, there are a couple smaller tv providers, but i have barely heard of them. it might as well be a monopoly for cable tv

We don't really watch TV at all anymore. We use Hulu, Netflix, amazon (and some more... questionable) websites for on demand programming when we want to watch something. The networks are full of nonsense and commercials and annoy the crap out of me, and I don't have time for it.

There's two things keeping us from switching to something else.  One, we need internet, which is bundled with the cable.  Because otherwise, it's wireless crappy slow stuff, that is too slow to watch things on.  Two, sports.  Sports is not offered on anything but the cable/satellite stuffs, aside from special events and stuff.  When the cable was out I had to use my dad's 4G backup thing, and I could not watch YouTube at full speed.  Especially with other people on.  At least if I wanted anything other than crappy 240p picture, and sometimes not even then.

Space. Lots of it. You should have seen my future brother-in-law (marriage is around Christmas) starring in awe at all the big two-stories-plus-basement-and-sizeable-yards houses we've got over here.

If you don't feel up to just turning over to Netflix for all your TV needs, which isn't that bad an idea cause then there is never nothing to watch! (almost), DirecTV is pretty dang awesome. Dish is pretty dang garbage.

I dunno about temperatures, I love the snow and I live in Cali, but everything has less rain than the UK. Isn't rain, like, your entire theme?
