Regarding formal and informal titles and gender:  http://genderqueeries.tumblr.com/titles
What I learned from this is that calling kids 'newts' is acceptable.

Really hoping college internet will be stable enough that I can download Dragon Age Inquisition in less than four days, because spoilers will be everywhere.

I hate the pronouns because they have no etymological basis, plus they sound out of place.

I wouldn't care if people actually made some that are bearable.
It's interesting that in Mandarin, pronouns are all gender neutral. My wife is from China, and even though her English is otherwise perfect, she still mixes up gender pronouns sometimes. I think even having gender-based pronouns probably leaves a deep psychic divide that is very difficult to get rid of (or to imprint upon those who grew up without it).

Uh  :flutter bad joke time ... yeah I understand, it really is linguistically hard to get Girr and Gull over (blame crazy american spelling and pronunciation).

I was helping a friend look for options for her Rogue for a Pathfinder game we are playing. More specifically rogue talents. Came across offensive defence at the pfsrd. +1 dodge bonus to AC for each sneak attack rolled. (Imagine a drooling emoticon here.)

Double checked it in the book its from (Advanced players guide). The "for each die" clause is not there.   :-\ :shakefist

This makes me sad for two reasons. First, that would give rogues something really nice. But we can't have that, can we? Secondly, I will now no longer feel I can trust that page, and I will thus have to double check everything. (This is the first thing I've found on there to be incorrect.)

End of rant

Actually, that's because it's in the errata.

Thank you for that Raineh Daze. That talent now went from poor to awesome again. I'm so happy I vented my frustration now.  :D This forum is awesome!

Have laptop less than eight hours.

Hardware failure (cable connecting LCD to everything else, it seems). :|

At least it's under warranty.

Well that blows.

My laptop keeps thinking that it isn't plugged in when it is.  It's under warranty but it's after-market mail it in and I don't know if I care enough.  If I can get the new job I'm looking at then I can just afford a newer/better one.  Mine is full of bullshit problems anyway.....

It could be the cord. I'd try replacing that first (borrow one if possible, to test it).
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

That's a good idea.  Unfortunately borrowing isn't an option and it looks like I'll have to spend $20-50 bucks on a new cable according to a quick google search depending on how much I trust the cheap end.

Edit: For reference, this is what a new one would cost me: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HWI6ZY8/

Before I had surgery, I had a really good sense of smell. I mean REALLY good. Somebody could have a smoke, shower thoroughly, and I'd still sense it, even if a bit faint.

Today is the first day since surgery that my sinuses started clearing up, and I'm being overwhelmed. I could actually tell each and every ingredient at our home-cooked meal before it touched my tongue.

I worry about the future. I may have to take up smoking.

It could be the cord. I'd try replacing that first (borrow one if possible, to test it).

It's not the power cord or anything. It's an internal component; the screen displays basically nothing but flickers at best. Since it changes depending on screen angle (and for a while could be fixed just BY adjusting screen angle), it's probably the internal cable connecting those two parts that actually broke.

And if that's broken, yeah, I'm sending it back. I only get charged if it turns out the thing ISN'T hardware broken. Courier collects it, and the warranty for parts is a year long (labour is three years). Packaging is trivial, I just stuck it back in the original packaging.

I was replying to Nanshork. Yeah, yours doesn't sound like the power cord. :p
