[Pathfinder] Any way to add more cheese? Monk/Ninja Archer
« on: December 21, 2014, 02:13:57 AM »
Guys, I'd like your opinion on this build. It's lacking some items and a trick (or feat) but I'm out of ideas. It has some quite high arrow damage output, even despite its low 'to hit'. What should I wear for armor? what are some nice properties?

Level progression:
Sohei Monk 6 -> Ninja 1 -> Evangelist 10 -> Sohei 8 -> Ninja 11

Feats and tricks:
(1)Point Blank Shot; (1)Combat Reflexes
(2) Mounted Combat Feat
(3) Precise Shot
(5) Rapid Shot
(6) Mounted Combat Feat
(7) Deific Obedience
(9) Weapon Focus / (Ninja trick) Vanishing Trick
(11) Clustered Shots / (Ninja trick) Dazzling Display Feat
(13) Manyshot   / (Ninja trick) Shatter Defenses Feat
(15) Deadly Aim / (Ninja trick) ???
(17) Improved Precise Shot / (Ninja trick) Invisible Blade
(19) Hammer the Gap

Equipment:

Arrow Splitter (+5 Second Chance)
Bracers of Falcon's Aim
Tome of Understanding +5 (Wisdom)
Manual of Quickness of Action +5 (Dexterity)
Headband of Mental Prowess +6
Belt of Physical Perfection +6
boots of speed
Bane Baldric
Greater Sniper Goggles

If you go gnome (or human with Racial Heritage) and base ki off charisma instead of wisdom, Bewilidering Koan does not seem to have been nerfed yet.  It's a nice thing for martials, so I expect it will be at some point, because this is pathfinder.  But anyway...it lets you burn a ki point and a swift to make the target lose his next turn.  Pretty nifty if you can optimize your skill check to never fail.

Q: [Pathfinder] Any way to add more cheese? Sohei Monk 6 -> Ninja 1 -> Evangelist 10 -> Sohei 8 -> Ninja 11
A: You have 36 Class Levels, what more could you need?

If you are including a single monster character in a group of standard characters, make sure the group is of a level that is at least as high as the monster's CR. Treat the monster's CR as class levels when determining the monster PC's overall levels. For example, in a group of 6th-level characters, a minotaur (CR 4) would possess 2 levels of a core class, such as barbarian.

Note that in a mixed group, the value of racial Hit Dice and abilities diminish as a character gains levels. It is recommended that for every 3 levels gained by the group, the monster character should gain an extra level, received halfway between the 2nd and 3rd levels. Repeat this process a number of times equal to half the monster's CR, rounded down. Using the minotaur example, when the group is at a point between 6th and 7th level, the minotaur gains a level, and then again at 7th, making him a minotaur barbarian 4. This process repeats at 10th level, making him a minotaur barbarian 8 when the group reaches 10th level. From that point onward, he gains levels normally.
Obviously, move levels of course.  :P

You're reading it wrong.  It's not Sohei Monk 6 and then +8 later on, it's 6 and then goes to 8, or just +2.  Likewise there's ninja 1 and then ninja +10 for ninja 11.

But that's still... 29 levels.  Something else has got to be wrong here since epic level feats aren't listed.

I know right?

If you go Monk 6 / Ninja 1 / Evangelist(ninja) 8 / Evangelist(monk) 2 / Ninja 3 you end up with 20, maybe that's how he wanted it?

Sorry, my bad, the Evangelist Favored Class is Ninja.

So I'll have:

Lvl1 to 6: Sohei (1-6)
Lvl 7: Ninja 1
Lvl 8 to 17: Evangelist (1-10) which counts as +9 Ninja Levels (for a final Ninja 10)
Lvl 18 and 19: Sohei (7-8)
Lvl 20: Ninja 11

I hope you got it

A trick I like when combining Monk & Ninja is to take the Kung Fu Genius feat turning my Monk AC to be Int based, and conveniently leaving my Ninja AC Wis based. After that, you'll never wear armor again.

Of course if this is for an game that has already started then adding that feat may prove a little difficult since it must be taken before your first level of Monk or at 1st level.
