I'm really fucking depressed and thinking I should go back to therapy

While I won't go against Unca Kitteh in regards to therapy working, I've found it is generally best to do therapy than not when depression strikes.

@brujon:

A friend of mine once told me that if you go out enough at night, you'll meet fun people, you'll meet fucked up people, and you'll meet with just plain weird people, and sometimes those overlap.

Statistics seem to suggest that someone, somewhere out there, would meet a fuckton more people who overlap on the fucked up and weird spectra.

Congratulations, brujon, you are a statistic.  :p

Definitely a statistic, in many more than just one sense of the world, lol.

@Bhu: i don't think anyone wishes to compromise me, in fact it's highly unlikely because i barely even started out and there's zero reasons someone would want to do anything, plus, it was a really chance encounter, lol. The guy is weird and shady as FUCK though, and i'll definitely NOT be getting close to this fellow anytime soon. The friend who was with me also agrees 100% that it's for the best not to be getting too close to this sort of individual, especially given my choice of profession. As a lawyer, though, it's good for me to know all sorts of individuals. Since he knows me and knows i'm a lawyer, and given that he knows a shitton of individuals likely to get in all sorts of legal troubles, it's kind of a lucky encounter, in a way, because it can lead to many lucrative opportunities. As long as i don't actively participate in any sort of illegal dealings myself, i can stay in the clear. Alcohol, ok, drugs bad.

Therapy doesn't always seem to work for depression, other than that you have someone to vent to.  If someone suggests meds do some research, the side effects arent always worth it.

That's generally been my experience. Therapy makes me relive negative thoughts and experiences so I end up more depressed. So far no meds have been effective either, and I hate the idea of having to take drugs to live normally. As far as side effects: I've had drugs that gave me that "zombie feeling", drugs that made me sleep for 10-12 hrs a day, drugs that wouldn't let me sit still (akathisia), drugs where I couldn't get hard, and drugs that did nothing at all.  The only drugs I've ever had that made me happy were of the recreational variety.

I kind of envy you in that.  SNRI's make me so violently ill I get hospitalized.  SSRI's cause paradox reactions for me.  Not only  do they worsen the depression, they make me actively sociopathic.

That's no good! :bigeyes

SNRIs do nothing for me, SSRIs did the zombie/oversleeping/impotence thing.  The akathisia was from Abilify

Abilify gave me problems similar to SSRI's.  I'm allergic to cymbalta and depakote.  Since I have memory issues they cant give me amitryptiline anymore, which sucks because it had some mild benefit.

My dad has passed away.  Last night, in his sleep, he suffered a bout of sleep apnea.  I knew something was wrong when the cats hadn't been fed, so I went to see if he was still there.  He had been dead for at least 2 hours.  He had his favorite last night for dinner, steak and potatoes, and his other the night before, crab.  The Cubs won while Neko sat on his lap.  The last thing he said, was to me: "I love you."  The last thing I said to him was "I love you too".
:hug

That's ...  :hug ... just about as good a last conversation or moment together , as anyone can get.
Condolences.

Yeah, some of this stuff just goes Full Wacky on random people, while being a wonderdrug for others.

Better than existential angst?  At least you can pretend that you're in a Lovecraft story?

Oh, nothing really major - I just sometimes get hit by the realization that life has no inherent meaning and that all things die.

It passes quickly enough, but it likes to hit when I should be sleeping.

(That picture made me smile. I should remember that one.)

i can tell you the meaning of life, but i cant make you believe it. ya gotta 'discover' it on your own to believe it.

all things die, yes and its wonderful.

:clap
Far better than the horror of children with cancer because some magic asshole in the sky has reasons that you'll never understand, man.
I'll take the responsibility of taking the blinking calculator of the world and punching meaning into it every time over trying to imagine what kind of monster would intentionally create a world where Donald Trump is leading the Presidential polls.  No intrinsic meaning leaves every single moment open to become the most important moment in history, crammed full of all the meaning and value you care to instill it with.  Not limited to being a mere meaningless cog in some vast plan to something something, phase 3: Profit.
Life is the meaning of life.

*sigh* Financial institutions pulling shenanigans again.

Made some purchases with my Paypal credit card, and Paypal took the money out of my bank account in addition to charging it against my credit balance--overdrawing my account in the process.

Then this morning I found a pending autopayment from my Amazon card when I absolutely do not have automatic payments enabled.

Unless I can get this straightened out (fat chance) I'll be out an extra $45-60 in fees and duplicate charges despite having had the money to cover all those things--just not in my bank account. On top of that, I had a recent return that I was forced to have refunded to my bank card instead of getting the refund in cash, so when that finally posts the fees will eat it. :shakefist

I can't think of anywhere else I post to say anything about this, so here it goes even though I'm not quite an insider here.

Two of my players keep pushing for romantic RP in my game, even though I am completely against doing so and have stated it clearly multiple times.  One is a female, who I am told obsesses over me, and the other is her most-likely-bisexual friend who seems to want to make something happen between her and me.  I am not attracted to her in the slightest.  They've been pushing the boundaries lately by making comments about "what a good couple" her PC would be with various NPCs of mine.  I am not interested in roleplaying her love interest, and I had to put my foot down about it today.  I'm pretty sure I just crushed her emotions based on her reactions, and it's going to be awkward to finish this campaign, but I'm unlikely to get anyone who wants to jump into a 16th level campaign with a new character.  I'll probably try to soldier through for the sake of my close friends in the game so they can get proper closure on playing their characters.  I won't be inviting the two who are instigating this stuff to future games.

Fuck, I'd like just one campaign to actually reach its ending point instead of getting derailed by drama or real life schedules falling apart.
