here it goes: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/modern-magic

On this installment, they touched mixing technological elements, be they current or waaaay beyond that.

1st impression: They gave me Ordo Malleus Inquisitors, Adeptus Astra Telepathica, Adeptus Terra Navis Nobilite, Adeptus Mechanicus and Weirdboyz. What a good Unearthed Arcana!
EDITS:
2nd impression: So much for the concentration mechanic...

IMHO the magic stuff looks way more like Shadowrun than Borehammer 40k.

Where are the gun damage rules? He talks about how the damage is high, but I can't see any values.

They`re on the DMG. But yes juicy shadowrun influence is crystal clear in the document, its just that there`s barely any effort necessary to adapt to 40k.

Ah, I see the firearms rules now. Thanks!

Hmm, only anti-ballistics armor... no stab vests I guess.

This UA seems like it's easy to adjust to a practical magic setting like Eberron.  Replace instances of technology with ability to manipulate everyday magic items like magical street lamps, airships, scrying crystals, etc. and this stuff becomes pretty good for an urban campaign.  The technomancer is close but not quite there to a 5e artificer, but I like it and the rest of the subclasses for what they are.  The flavor of the ghost in the machine warlock is amazing.

This is a very cool UA. I honestly hope that my vague estimation of 2-3 months from UA to splatbook is correct. A definite buy, even if I don't play D&D much at all these days.

If there was going to be full-on 3rd party "official" splat, this'd be what I'd want.

The flavor and additions for 5e Modern is great. I honestly hope there's more in store, as I truly liked the idea behind d20M, but no one ever seems to have played it or anyone I tend to group with.

Given how much our cadre enjoys 5e, this is a fantastic addition to add some diversity to stories and settings. There's just not enough Modern Fantasy really... at least for 5e.

Somebody who got the 4E Gamma World box
wanna chime in with any similarities ??

I spotted 2 possible Erratas:

1-  Synchronicity spell is level 4 also for City,
but level 5 for Ghost In The Machine.
So far as I can tell, wotc was trying to avoid this.
Maybe this is OK but maybe it isn't.  So clarify please.
(personally I don't care / I can handle it / previous editions had lots of these)

2-  the Wizard ability Technological Savant
applies to every spell ; which would be like
having all 8 Wiz specialties + Tome'Lock.
Maybe they really are going for that , or
"attuned storage device" is somehow a limit?

Well, I think it's the first example of  being able to double concentrate.
As a 14th level class ability
1/long rest
With conditions requiring an expensive? focus that might then draw fire? (IDK any rules for modern/future items)

Even with those drawbacks, try to imagine possible spell combos with doublecon, I believe there may be some nasty ones.

Caster 17 / Sorc 3 builds ... have already tested Twinned.
2+ Casters conc buffing 1 Dude at a choke point,
is a known problem and perhaps not really fixable.

I suppose a few might be very tasty,  but yeah any problems
with 2 Conc's at once, would be in the interactions.

I'd soft bet only long term buffs would cause problems,
because going down 2 actions in combat is bad strategy.

All I want to say is that we have Gunlocks, people.

Gunlocks.
