Bernie is awesome.

That strikes me as less "awesome" and more "has the common sense to avoid political suicide."  :p

According to released financial statements 2 dems and 6 repubs are spending more than they take in, and several other republicans are still spending like drunken sailors.

Looks like the field may winnow fairly swiftly after the next debate.

Like that will stop them.  They'll just not pay their employees and claim they shouldn't get paid if they don't win.   :smirk  :p

Social Darwinism at its best! Maybe we should coin a new term: Economic Darwinism (or Political Darwinism).

Donald Trump, and the rest of that level of Republican, has always denounced eminent domain.  Well, denounced publicly.  Donald Trump wants to buy up a bunch of private property using that policy, and sell it to private companies.  Because "if your house is in the middle of a factory, you're costing the American taxpayer 5, 6, 7000 jobs!"

Of course, because that's obviously a blasphemous myth.

He's not playing hardball he's being sneaky.  He doesn't want job and the political repercussions that come with it, nor does he want the possible repercussions of saying no.  So he makes demands the Freedom Caucus will find unacceptable, thereby neatly disqualifying himself with much less future problems than if he was honest and said "Fuck no, I'm not getting Boehnered."

Huh that is sneaky.
I thought he was reading them a (small) riot act.
They did kinda mush a vague support-y statement toward him.

Except....he's the new speaker.

EDIT: wait, I misread the headlines.  He's running for speaker and has a majority.

He has enough of a majority to win, but his prime demand of having them give up the right to vacate the speakers chair may still backfire on him.  He wanted 80% of the three caucuses behind him before he said he'd run, but got 70%.  Still enough to get him in, but still low enough to get him Boehnered if he isn't careful.  Some part of me still thinks he either is deliberately torpedoing his run for the chair, or he truly thinks he can get them to toss out attempts to depose him once he's in, which I don't see happening.

He certainly doens't have the support of the hardcore conservative media like Breitbart and Drudge.  They've come out and called him "emperor ryan" and stuff because of these demands, calling him a liberal in disguise already.  And more liberal than Boehner.
