I didn't grab a siterip unfortunately.  I was in charge of adding content, not managing the website.  The webmaster for the website went AWOL a few months ago so we've been going on ever since without them.

Could it be reproduced on Google Sites or a free webhost?  I know of a couple, though from what was posted the size might be a problem (at least for the freebie ones...).

Aw hell, I worked on dndtools.pw.  I swear I look away for a week and it dies while I'm not working.  I hope someone managed to get a siterip of it that's recent.  I put in several hours of work since it became dndtools.pw and I don't want to see it go to waste.
So in other news.

Thanks!
I loved the project and frequently made use of it.

Seconding. dndtools has been the best tool I've ever used for searching the books.

this,
It has saved me hours of time and allowed me to find answers to all kinds of questions which just takes longer to do the old fashioned way.

So how do we fix it ?

Aw hell, I worked on dndtools.pw.

I also want to say THANKS.  I even upvoted your post, doubling the respect you get around here  :D

Do you know if the actual info is kept in a SQLite database, like the kind dndtools.eu released?

For a moment there I thought you said your kitty's life instead of your 3rd party referencing you like to do.

And then I couldn't decide if you were using D&D Tools the wrong way or the right way...

The webmaster for the website went AWOL a few months ago so we've been going on ever since without them.

I can't seem to find any info on who the webmaster is (which is probably a good thing). http://www.whois.com/whois/dndtools.pw

http://research.domaintools.com/research/whois-history/search/?q=dndtools.pw

"We have 15 historical records for Dndtools.pw.
There are at least 15 significant changes.
None of the records publish domain name ownership data; they all use a privacy or proxy service."

Edit: It looks like folks use about 12 pages per visit on average, and spend more than ten minutes there. That's quite above average for a website; I hope the owner realizes how important this site is to all of us, and re-hosts it.

my thanks too

I use database + searchablitiy
and that 2nd one is the tough 1
to find.  Realmshelps has most
everything, but odd navigating.
Both >> wayback, but hey.

I'm searching my computer, for some reason I recall having a siterip from the old (.eu) site. If I can find it, would that be useful to anyone? I'm shit at anything internet-related more complex than arguing about semantics.

Already been posted... see:
Where is this held ?
When D&D Tools first announced they were going down someone sent a crawler on it to save the site. It's a 149mb file, I should be able to dropbox it for you if you like.

Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xym6e6yzcdbpx5z/dndtools.eu.rar?
Just unrar into a new folder and open the the index file (bookmark it for easy of access), basic functionality works just fine through it's unsearchable. Note: You don't have to have a dropbox account to download, if the login pops up just hit the X on it.

Local copy download is available
Dec. 29, 2014

We have noticed that a large number of people are mirroring the entire site using httrack, wget and similar tools. This places a significant load on the server and wastes our bandwidth.

We have created a compressed archive with all the pages on the site that you can download directly.
Please use this link instead of wget, httrack and other mirroring tools.

dndtoolshtmlcopy29122014.7z – 13MB Download

This copy was produced with
wget -mk -X /inaccurate_content —trust-server-names http://dndtools.pw

Use the 7zip utility to decompress.

Please note that site search and filters will not work on a local copy.

In 2 days time we will start banning or throttling abusive bots.
Now you can update your local copy with all of pw's updates to the original database, sweet.
