Skills: 4+int modifier per level, quadruple at first level. Class skills: Balance, Bluff, Climb, Concentration, Craft (Any one), Disguise, Jump, Intimidate, Hide, Knowledge(any), Listen, Move Silently, Profession (any), Sense Motive, Spot, Swim, Use Rope.
Proficiencies: All simple and martial weapons and his own natural weapons.
Features:Dusk Giant body: The Dusk Giant loses all other racial bonuses, and gains giant traits (mainly low light vision), a base speed of 30 feet, two natural claw attacks each doing 1d4+Str mod each. He's a medium-sized giant with a natural armor equal to his Con bonus.
Least Cannibalize: As a swift action the Dusk Giant can fully eat an adjacent freshly killed corpse one size category smaller than itself or smaller. For each 5 HD of sentient living creatures the Dusk Giant consumes he can choose to gain one of the following benefits.
-Gain +1 Str, up to Dusk Giant level.
-Gain +1 to max HP, up to 5 times Dusk Giant level.
-Gain +1 to natural armor, up to ½ Dusk Giant level, rounded up
-Gain +1 Con, up to ½ Dusk Giant level, rounded up
-Gain Powerful Build.
-Gain +1 racial bonus to a skill the consumed creature had ranks in, up to 1/3 Dusk Giant level, rounded up.
Each 4 HD of non-sentient living creatures consumed counts as 1 HD of sentient living creatures consumed for the purpose of this ability.
The benefits are permanent, but if the Dusk Giant goes 24 hours without consuming at least 2 HD worth of sentient living creatures or 8 HD worth of non-sentient living creatures, they lose one of the above benefits. In a campaign starting above first level, a Dusk Giant can count themselves as having consumed 10 HD worth of living creatures per Dusk Giant level.
The creatures consumed must be actual living beings freshly killed, not summons or called beings.
Cowardly Ambush: A Dusk Giant can use Con instead of Charisma for the purpose of disguising themselves as humans, half-orcs or orcs, plus Con instead of Dex for using Hide and Move Silently provided they're not wearing armor or shields of any kind.
Ability Score Increase: The Dusk Giant gains a permanent
+1 Str at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14.
+1 Con at levels 2,4,6,8,10, 12, 14.
For a total of +8 Str and +6 Con at level 14.
Pall of Twilight: At 2nd level a dusk giant is constantly surrounded by an aura of gloom that darkens bright light and casts an equal pallor upon the spirits of its enemies. In a 10- foot radius around a least dusk giant, bright light is treated as shadowy illumination, although creatures with low-light vision (or darkvision) suffer no penalties in this area. In addition, enemies within this area take a –2 penalty on all saving throws because of the despair it elicits. The radius of a dusk giant’s pall of twilight expands as it grows, increasing by 10 feet for each size category they're larger than medium.
Rend: At 3rd level if a dusk giant hits with both claw attacks, it latches onto its target’s body and tears the fl esh. This attack automatically deals extra damage equal to two claw attacks plus 1-1/2 times the giant’s Strength modifi er.
Surprise Snack: At 4th level a Dusk Giant gains a Natural Bite attack dealing 1d4+1/2 Str mod damage. If a creature is killed by the Dusk Giant's bite attack, the Dusk Giant can choose to instantly (and messily) eat them as a free action that doesn't provoke attacks of opportunity.
Lesser Cannibalize: Starting at 5th level the Dusk Giant with Powerful Build can consume 20 HD worth of sentient living creatures to lose Powerful Build and grow to large size, gaining +2 Str, +10 feet to land speed and +1 Natural armor. It can't choose to gain Powerful Build from Least Cannibalize again while this is active. If they go 24 hours without consuming at least 2 HD worth of sentient living creatures they go back to medium size. The limitations on valid meals are the same as Least Cannibalize, including consuming four times as much non-sentient living creatures.
Throw Stone: At 5th level, provided they have Lesser Cannibalize active, the Dusk Giant may begin throwing boulders or other large objects. A giant of at least Large size can hurl rocks weighing 40 to 50 pounds each (Small objects) up to 600 feet. A Huge giant can hurl rocks of 60 to 80 pounds (Medium objects). A Gargantuan giant can hurl rocks of 90 to 120 pounds (large objects). Inanimate objects of similar size and heft may be used as well, counting as rocks of the same type.
Catch: At fifth level, provided they have Lesser Cannibalize active, the Dusk giant that would normally be hit by a rock can make a Reflex save to catch it as a free action. The DC is 15 for a Small rock, 20 for a Medium one, and 25 for a Large one. (If the projectile provides a magical bonus on attack rolls, the DC increases by that amount.) The giant must be ready for and aware of the attack in order to make a rock catching attempt.
Dusk Magic: The Dusk Giant becomes able to use certain SLAs. Any save DCs are 10+1/2 HD+Str mod.
Peasant-At 6th level Ray of Enfeeblement 1/hour per 4HD. Can be used as a Swift action if Lesser Cannibalize is active.
Count-At 8th level Enervation 1/day per 4 HD. Can be used as a swift action if Greater Cannibalize is active.
Duke-At 10th level Dimension Door 1/hour. Can perform one full attack as a free action after this teleport if Greater Cannibalize is active.
Lord-At 11th level Shield 1/hour per 5 HD. Shield bonus applies to touch AC and all saves if Greater Cannibalize is active.
King-At 12th level Slow 1/hour per 5 HD. Can be used as a swift action if Greater Cannibalize is active.
Emperor-At 13th level Energy Drain 1/day per 8 HD.
Dusk Delicacy: At 7th level while Least Cannibalize is active the Dusk Giant can choose to use Least Cannibalize to gain Awesome Blow, Cleave, Impproved Overrun, Imroved Sunder, Iron Will, Multiattack or Power Attack as a bonus feat instead of one of the regular Least Cannibalize benefits provided they meet any other prerequisites, up to a total of 1/3 HD bonus feats, and/or Powerful Build. This Powerful Build is always lost first if the Dusk Giant goes hungry.
Greater Cannibalize: Starting at 9th level the Dusk Giant with Powerful Build and Lesser Cannibalize activated can consume 40 HD worth of sentient living creatures to lose Powerful Build and grow to huge size, gaining +4 Str and +2 Natural armor. If they go 24 hours without consuming at least 2 HD worth of sentient living creatures they go back to large size. The limitations on valid meals are the same as Least Cannibalize, including consuming four times as much non-sentient living creatures.
Dusk Demise: At 14th level 1/day if the Dusk Giant would die, they can use one of their SLAs and then perform a Bite attack as a free action against anyone within range that hits automatically even if unable to take actions. This Bite automatically threatens a Critical Hit and forces a Fort save with DC 10+1/2 HD+Str mod or the target dies automatically. If the victim was a living creature and dies from either the damage or failed save, they're consumed by the Dusk Giant, each HD either healing the Dusk Giant for 1d12 HP, 1d12 ability damage/drain or removing an harmful non-instantaneous non-permanent condition from them. If the effect that triggered this was a death or destruction effect, it counts as if dealing 2d12 damage per HD of the user.
In addition the caps to Least Cannibalize abilities are increased by half non-Dusk Giant HD.
Been some time since I've done one myself.
Now I would like to point out that cannibalism actually refers to eating your own species, but in fantasy is often used to refer to anyone that noms on delicious human(oid)s. It's quite interesting that since in the real world humans eat pretty much everything else, writers are always coming up with monsters that just love human flesh. But I disgress.
Mechanics wise making the dusk giant eat stuff to gain HD was a no, but nomming for power is still its main stcick. So after some thinking ended up with the current version where eating grants minor stackable benefits and you need to eat every day for "maintenance". Gave it less base stat upgrades per level but at the end is probably one of the strongest monsters around here, although also lacking somewhat in utility. Gets some SLAs at mid-high levels to spice things up.
So if you want to play a giant that loves to feast on human(oid) flesh, the Dusk Giant's for you!
