RAINEH TOLD ME THERE WAS SUPER ROBOTS GOING ON HERE SO HERE I AM
I've watched Evangelion, and I really enjoyed it. I thought aside from the bio-robot thing it was actually more like a Real Robot series (remember those cables?)...

The cables were only really there so that they could have the time limit as a shout-out to Ultraman, actually.  Also if you don't watch Gunbuster I will incessently nag about it over and over again until you do.  ...This applies to anyone really since it's my favourite mecha anime ever. ^^;

Also, GaoGaiGar is pretty much required watching when you want hotblooded mecha action.  It was made as a reaction to Evangelion, after all, and gleefully ignores any deconstruction that took place there to focus solely on awesome. XD I actually love Eva (the original series, at least; I really couldn't care for Rebuild aside from the first one), but yeah.  ...Also Raineh mentioned G Gundam which is the best Gundam series. :D

Speaking of G Gundam, there are two other super robot series made by the same guy who did that!  Giant Robo is basically amazing and words can't really do it justice, and Shin Mazinger is my favourite version of Mazinger so um yeah.  And I am rambling um sorry. ^^;

Speaking of hotbloodness and mechas, I found a somewhat obscure series that seems pretty underrated, Black Rock Shooter. Currently watching the TV anime, altough there seems to be an OVA, game and manga with quite different storylines.

Anyway for the TV series focuses on two things:
1)School girls and their daily life problems.
2)Said school girls manifesting their worries, hates and rivarlies in an alternate dimension through the form of super-powerful pseudo-avatars that fight each other with oversized weapons to settle their normal-life conflicts.

A small peek from the first episode:

I lost interest in BRS after the original OVA. Never had any inclination to watch the actual series.

So, from my end, not obscure; it merely lost my interest some time between 'music video' and 'full anime'.

What actually started it off was one guy (huke? It's been a while) drawing some pictures, then they got picked up and used for a Hatsune Miku song/video, which got a lot of interest and that lead to the OVA, which further lead to the game and full anime... but I stopped following it after the OVA.

I only wrote the first (very short) chapter a long while ago. It's in the forums somewhere. Look for a thread I started named "Me and my delusions" or something.

Well, I still recommend you at least watch episode 8 skipping straight to minute 11:54 for a minute.

EDIT: And seems like I got two respect out of nowhere between this and my other post. Wonder where.

I refuse to watch a clip from what's either an early-middle or mid-to-late episode (depending on series length). If I run out of things to do, I might watch it, otherwise not. :rolleyes

The site bitched about my Adblocker.
So I clicked on my other addon and forced the clip to download to my HD rather than stream so I'm not even on the page while I watch it.

Websites will never learn.

Man.....adblocker is so harmful to sites that offer such free services as watching anime or reading manga.......it's really mean to adblock them if you're gonna use those sites :(

I turn off adblock if the service is actually a good one. That is.

It's one thing when they ask nicely, I.E. they get a small banner on the site that tells you they could really use your support and such. I've got an exception on my adblocker for Cirnopedia (it's a wiki-style reference site for PSO2) for that reason.

It's another when they block access to the site entirely until you disable the extension and bombard you with porn/dating site ads.

I completely agree. It's especially bad when the ads are completely obnoxious and unavoidable...

And, personally, i'm against paid ads on fansubbing websites, especially when said sites don't even sub the episodes they have on their sites, but rather rip from other fansubs and mercilessly upload them then ask for donations/fill the website with paid ads.

I don't agree with people that want to actually profit from someone else's intellectual property. A small number of ads/donations just to cover hosting costs is acceptable, anything else is not. Therefore i don't feel the least bit guilty about using adblock in those cases. Moreover, it's kind of dumb, because once they start profitting from it they open themselves to much more serious legal action than just a cease & desist and a takedown notice.

Way back when i just started watching anime i used to go to these websites that re-uploaded other fansubs series as really bad quality .rmvb files of about 50mb (really bad internet), and was really impressed they sometimes got donations in the several thousands mark, plus whatever they got in ad revenue for what amounted to basically no work at all. After all, all you have to do is recode the episode, which basically entails opening a program, telling it to recode and then leave the thing running until it's finished.

Once i learned that, i started drifting away from those websites and into the own fansubs page, and as a bonus, started watching much higher quality content. I also felt really bad that i condoned that kind of attitude for so long. I mean, other people did the heavy lifting of actually translating from japanese to portuguese or from english to portuguese, syncing, doing the karaoke and actually making a good encode, just for someone else to mercilessly rip their content without giving them a shred of recognition, renaming their release, and profitting on top of that. That's nasty, really nasty.

Not really, advertisers are not as dumb as you think. Most annoying ads are Pay-Per-Click so it doesn't matter if they blocked or making your pages look like crap, hosts not making money off them. They also understand half of clicks are accidental and 9% of users outright block them so they haggle rates appropriately. Like Infinityads claims $1.80 payout for PPVs, but that is pop-under & obfuscating rates and per 1,000 unique, and un-flagged IP, hits. So every week I'm worth 0.072 less than cents per adspace to my favorite Manga host (and that's counting every hit per manga page) which is posting illegal copies in an attempt to steal money from the real publishers in the first place.

Which is more than I'd pay to deal with pop-unders and six or so ads (there are a lot of floating exits there) burying twenty seconds of video to an anima I'm now convinced I'll never watch hosted on a site I'd ban from the Internet if I could. But enjoy your high horse knowing viruses on the bottom of my feet stand taller than what I think of your opinion.

Edit - I somehow forgot to mention how every single one of Ketaro's Anima/Manga sites are pirates stealing from the original publishers to start with. Silly me. Fixed. I hope s/he feels bad now.

You know, I kind of doubt that most anime sites make a profit on hosting links to videos. Unless the ad revenue somehow hugely eclipses the cost of hosting the whole site, which seems to go in the face of all evidence I've seen, they're paying to host the things.

Stealing money from the publishers isn't entirely accurate, either. Sooooo many things that have never been translated...

So it's not stealing if I translate things into Pig-Latin or just learn Japanese and pirate the originals? O.o

And no, I doubt hosts don't make money by an ad, even by throwing a dozen up per video like that one terrible site simply because people will avoid it. I believe most manage by donation. You'd be shocked at how much you can rake in off donations alone, it's probably how these boards manage.

Speaking of, any news regarding that alleged mega anti-piracy operation that the Japanese government was supposed to have enforced like a month ago?
