A theoreticaly good plan for prospective necromancers is DN9\ Ur- Priest 2\ True Necro 9 with the apropriate cheese like a Planar touchstone and an Otyghu hole to aquire the useless Iron will feat
Alternatively something that would get you 9th level Dread Necro spells. This one does not, unless Planar touchstones can do that for you somehow.

Nope. Just the acces to the equaly useless Death domain.. I tend to forget that the True Necro has such a crapy spell progression. I also didnt realise that we wanted to reach 9th lvl spells specificaly :-\

We don't necessarily need those, they are just quite excellent. And yeah, TN's progress is painfully annoying.

I just came up with another one (It's probably been done before, or else I've made some mistake because I'm lacking sleep)

Ranger 1
Spellthief 1
Rogue 4
Abolisher 1
Ur-Priest 1
Daggerspell Shaper (Neutral Evil recommended adaptation) 10
Master of Many Forms 2

Sneaky little git who wants to get stuck in in combat so desperately that he turns against the gods!  :lmao

Bit of an oddball build... Cleric 2/XX 1/Master of Shrouds 2/Ur-priest 2/Master of Shrouds +x/whatever else
You actually lose your MoS ablities at level 6 when you enter Ur-priest (unless your XX was Dread Necromancer), and get them back at level 7 when you regain rebuke.  From there on if you're playing the build at those levels (rather than jumping in at ECL20) you'll slowly be catching up on casting but have your undead summons backing you up.

I like this 1 :)

If the XX is dread necromancer then you only need one level of Ur-Priest which then nets you a level for something else...

I was ruminating (because I'm eloquent like that) over some monster classes to fill in the XX. Since I brought it up in another thread, I think a Lumi Ur-priest MoS would be interesting, both from a mechanics and thematic point of view.

With some psionics and incorporeality via another route, there's the unbodied which could make for an interesting late game build.
Unbodied 4HD+4LA/XYZ 1-2/Ur-priest  2/Psychic Theurge 8-9
where XYZ is whatever you need to meet Ur-priest prereqs. Unbodied gets the bluff skill which is one of the more awkward prereqs to get. I don't have my books on me so I can't remember what else you need aside from a couple feats and the class needs to have a good fort save.

Another random idea going back to my original build: Go warforged and cap it off with Landforged Walker... so now you're a robot tree with undead minions. Start off with Cleric 1/Totemist 2... fill the rest as MoS 2/Ur-priest 2/MoS 8/LW 5, and you're a robot tree who channels magical beasts and controls undead. Heh, that sounds like fun actually.

I think I've come up with something quite good.

Bard 5/Ur-Priest 2/Divine War Weaver 5/Contemplative 1 || Binder 5/Anima Mage 8

It's a cohort and the level is 13, so this is as far as I took the build. At level 13 it gets 7th level Arcane, 6th level Binding, and 7th level Divine. If you took a full casting PrC instead of War Weaver, it'd have 8th level Divine.

So a gestalt build then? I was under the impression that dual advancement PrCs like Anima Mage were frowned upon in gestalt much like taking PrCs on both sides of the build at the same time.

Usually dual-progression isn't allowed, but the game is high op.

That said, there are a lot of great builds here I wouldn't have expected or thought of.

Unless it's houseruled in, there also is no Divine War Weaver variant. In fact it's the one thing that class's "Adaptation" section specifically tells you never to do.

Kudos, though, on using Contemplative that way. It's not a class I've done much with, personally.
What's your opinion of Ur-Priest/Divine Oracle? Is there anything there or is it a neat idea that doesn't play out mechanically?
I'll put something here when I think of something witty. For now, this might as well be a sign that reads "post no signs."

I'd certainly say it'd be dip worthy for the Oracle Domain and Prescient Sense (essentially Evasion, but works in any armor). Beyond that though, there are better options for the long-term unless you're focusing on divination, and even then the class isn't that amazing.

So, I'm going to revise my previous for a version that pulls triple 9s... because I forgot about illumians

Illumian Savage Bard 1/Magic Mantle Ardent 4/Ur Priest 2/Psychic Theurge 3/Sublime Chord 1/Mystic Theurge 5/Cerebremancer 4, which just nets the 17 ML for psi 9s

Wow, you can make the prerequisite skills and feats for all that?

Bard gets us the skills, but high ish  int helps, probably should take it a bit later than first, with flaws though just about every feat goes into prereqs, if you dark chaos shuffle and use wondrous locations this is somewhat mitigated. But yes, it is a very tight build, especially when you are sinking cross class points. Though you could always grab the feat that decreases cross class costs and shuffle it out later.

Yeah, even as a Human with the Able Learner Feat, it'll need either Int 14 or Int 12 with 2 Open Minded Feats, one of which you'd have to get with a Flaw, because you're needing Great Fortitude to qualify for Ur Priest, and Alternate Source Spell to qualify for Sublime Chord. And that's assuming you get Iron Will from Otyugh Hole?

Int 14, when you want Wisdom and Charisma each to hit at least 19... that's tough, so I'll assume 2x Open Minded?

That'd only leave you with 3 points of Concentration at level 12 though, but you can catch that up to max over the following 4 levels. Tricky to play until then though.

can you do a manifester level breakdown? how are you getting 17?

4 Ardent
3 Psychic Theurge
4 Cerebremancer
4 Practiced Manifester
1 Krau Sigil
=16
are you using +1 caster level ion stone?

Great fortitude for Ur-Priest? No, no. Just Iron will and Spell focus (evil).

You need Fort 3, Ardent 4 gives you 1, Savage Bard 1 gives you 1. You're 1 short

Savage Bard has a strong fortitude, so it gives +2 at first level. Weak reflex save though.
