Yylris backs up five feet from the door and begins summoning a wolf (using his Entangle spell slot) in the area between him and the door. He makes sure his riding dog is behind him.

The summoning spell finishes and a wolf appears between Yylris and the door. He draws his bow and backs up five feet to make more room up by the door.

He readies an attack for whatever comes through first and instructs the wolf to ready an attack, too. His animal companion is behind him until he has a better idea what they're fighting.

Assuming that red lizard thing looks hostile, Yylris shoots at it:

Attack = 1d20+6

Rolled 1d20+6 : 11 + 6, total 17

Damage = 1d8+3

Rolled 1d8+3 : 1 + 3, total 4

He then sends his summoned wolf in for a charge attack (subtract 2 from the attack roll if it can't charge):

Attack = 1d20+7

Rolled 1d20+7 : 1 + 7, total 8

Damage = 1d6+3

Rolled 1d6+3 : 2 + 3, total 5

Trip roll, if attack hits (opposed by Str or Dex) = 1d20+3

Rolled 1d20+3 : 20 + 3, total 23

Yylris keeps his dog back by him until he has a better idea what this thing is.
