Are we able to barricade off this section of the house? If so, several of us should move furniture to leave us a door from this room to the rest of the house, while two of us keep an eye on the area on the floor where they're trying to break through.

If we can't, we'll need to keep an eye on what they're doing. Elizabeth is hoping they don't have to leave the building.

Are there gunshots in other areas of the town tonight?

You can hear gunfire in the distance in several directions.  You have enough people to keep watch while barricading off that room.  Where are you leaving the possessed?

Ideally in a room with one only one door in, with an armed guard told not to get within arms reach, and to shoot her if she tries to escape or get too close.

Elizabeth will help keep watch over the hole with her gun while a couple people construct the barricade.

How close are the surrounding buildings, and are they of similar height? Are the roofs of these buildings flat or peaked?

They're across the street or more than 10 feet away to give the inn space.  They have peaked roofs.

So, jumping from roof to roof is extremely dangerous. Elizabeth keeps an eye on the hole hoping for the best.

You get it walled off after they pile on the furniture without problem.  It's about 2 am at your best guess when someone sees a lone figure on the street.  An old woman.

Does Elizabeth recognize her from seeing her earlier? Perhaps one of the women glaring at her, earlier?

It is.  She smiles and waves.  No ghouls seem present.

Elizabeth looks worriedly back at the group for a moment, then back to the woman on the street:
"Might we have a word?"

Assuming there are no ghouls on the street:

To the group: "Lower me down..."

She ties a loop in a rope to put a foot in and while she holds on so several men can lower her to the ground. Before getting on the rope, she makes sure her pistol is fully loaded, but she holsters it.

If there are ghouls on the ground, I'll have to rethink this post.

(My apologies for the delay, my PC crapped out yesterday)

"No.  You simply still identify with these pitiable creatures.  You willingly limit yourself by doing so.  And for what?  Women who don't understand you, and men who find you to be lesser than them for the crime of being born a woman.  The Ghul and the humans were living in relative peace until that raid.  They only fed on the cities dead, and were useful servants.  Now they are angry, and thinking of turning away from us."

"I fear I greatly misunderstood the situation, and at great peril to others. I came from a much smaller town that was constantly beset by troglodytes and creatures that would puppet the dead. We lost many travelling here, looking for relative safety, and I misjudged the situation when I found there were ghouls living in the city.

Before the raid, were their numbers truly small enough that they could remain satiated by eating only the dead?"

In addition, Elizabeth wants to keep an eye out to make sure she isn't being ambushed. She's hoping this woman values her alive, at this point.

"Originally, but once they found a food source, more and more of them began arriving.  They prefer to eat corpses, but they aren't shy about making them if necessary.  Their goals would interfere in ours, so we converted them from their Master to our Mistress, bringing them under our control.  We kept their numbers low, and blunted their ambitions.  They are angry now, and their anger is making them resist our command.  They are no less dangerous than the other creatures you've faced, and may even be more so.  They are corrupting by their very nature, and prolonged  exposure to their kind tends to provoke transformations in yours.  Eventually they will anger the Mistress, and that will be bad for everyone.  If we can get them to come o the table and negotiate, can you convince the children who run this city to behave themselves?"

"...given these circumstances... yes.

This was largely a fear-based response, but we didn't really know what was at stake. If anything, I think after tonight, they'd prefer an uneasy truce to nightly bloodshed."

"I'll ask them to stand down then.  I've no promises they'll listen, but you can at least return inside while I am here.  We know where you live, we will send word of the meeting."
