Considering Prime is posting about the off-topic topic, he could have split the thread himself if he deemed it necessary.

Even a Mod can forget himself, you're human too after all. Just because he didn't say something after a couple of off-topic posts, doesn't mean that it's automatically allowed to completely disregard this threads actual purpose...

sounds like we have a case of DM (mod) having a say, and Player (non-mod) having a say too....

thus it is perfectly on topic. ^^                             :drums

I thought that I would help the mods a little. You know, self moderate. But if moderators don't care, then I don't care either. Do what you want. :rolleyes

FWIW, most other forums frown upon non-mods/admins moderating other members. Not that we'll do anything about it happening, but it is usually more effective to report the post and let us know what you want done in the description you send than just posting in the thread proper.

The other user is on the ignore lists of multiple people.
WE HAVE THOSE? teach me!

Obvious I know gitp has them or ... well I wouldn't be able to read half the threads without throwing up in my mouth

Hmmm. I saw the buddy list (when i click on people's names) but not the ignore list (which can be found this way at gitp). I never would have looked where you said. Strange place...

You may insert your own "you're damned right my member is heroic" joke here. Something riffing off of the face that launched a thousand ships is a good place to start.

Quick note: We really don't care about being on-topic. We won't split the topic unless asked either.
If you make an off topic post, it should be deleted.  Don't make off topic posts.

Hint: If anyone has any sort of issue with anything on the boards they would bring it up here on this board.  In fact, almost by defenition no one has a problem unless they bring it here.
From here.

That seems to imply there is an official line regarding off topic posts.

Yeah, saw that the other day after I made my earlier post. Josh didn't exactly tell me about it, so I missed it.

Note: We split the derail about the boards' stance regarding off-topic posts over here because it's essentially about discussing the moderators.

Less of an official line than simply the mods being laxer than the admin. We're handling it pretty much like it was handled on the old boards (i.e., not unless it gets really jarring).

Before reading Josh's post, this was how I was handling it, too. If the topic warrants a new thread, we split it. If the off topic discussion dies down, we didn't worry about it.

I could understand the confusion, though.

touche ... not at all what I meant though. Consider it humor at the off-topic meta-conversation

Don't worry, I did it too not so long ago.
