Gaining Intelligence from Int -?
« on: January 03, 2012, 07:18:19 PM »
Look i.e. at skeletons or Arcane Oozes (MM3 IIRC), they are quiet powerful monsters in some cases, but they got Int - and thus get no feats or skills at all. Does anyone know a template or something to add Int to a monster so it can make a fun (and maybe devasting) challange for a party by having Feats?

IIRC there's an awaken ooze spell in a dragon mag... fun for giving Living Spells class levels :D

Celestial/Fiendish sets it to minimum 3, doesn't it?  Good low cost option...

And SpC has Awaken Undead for your skeletons Or consider using Bone Creatures (BoVD) instead as that template allows for even more Int.

How come you guys never wave?

Please send me a PM if you give me kudos. I'm interested in what I'm doing right.

Bone Knights animate corpses into those Karrnathi Skeletons. I believe those things are fully intelligent, they may not be a template though.

There's the Sentry Ooze template from Dungeonscape which give those delightful non-intelligent oozes INT 2.

Wow thanks alot guys. Didn't knew there are so many possibilities to gain Int for a monster. I will make a list of these and make some nice monsters. That skeleton troll using some maneuvers from ToB will be really fun to play I think xD

@sirpercival: Any idea what #number it was? :/

Dragon #304.

How about an awakened living spell of MDJ?

Of course, being "Sentry", this makes odd but perfect sense!  I must use this somehow.

Bloated goat prince of Undeath, master of vampires and lord of specters, Orcus, grant me your crushing might and the deadly power of your skull- headed wand! (figured what I play, yet?)

I want to train one to roll over, and my dungeon would have plenty of stairs.

I shall call him Slinky.

Deepwarden PrC, for Dwarves only.  Not sure how an ooze could qualify really.

PAO gives the target the Int of the new form too.
The duration on both PAO and Awaken X are permanent.

Incarnate Construct template, forces an Int on all sorts of things. Nerfs others.

Template them to the proper type, then take Stoneblessed (dwarf)

To quote http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/ooze.htm:

Split (Ex)

Slashing and piercing weapons deal no damage to a black pudding. Instead the creature splits into two identical puddings, each with half of the original’s current hit points (round down). A pudding with 10 hit points or less cannot be further split and dies if reduced to 0 hit points.
