Can you drop a list of the remaining planes? They always confused me. I'll work (or at least try) from Z to A.

YAY!  I find these very daunting, I don't know about you... if you'd like to just suggest ability trees or somesuch I can springboard off of that, or of course you're welcome to post entire nodes.

Remaining planes:
Arcadia -- LG/LN (I have a few ideas for this one)
Baator -- LE (I have a few ideas for this one)
The Beastlands -- CG/NG (I have a few ideas for this one)

Bytopia -- LG/NG
Carceri -- CE/NE
Celestia -- LG
Elysium -- NG
Gehenna -- LE/NE
Hades -- NE
Limbo -- CN
Mechanus -- LN
The Outlands -- NN
Pandemonium -- CE/CN
Ysgard -- CG/CN

Ysgard, random thoughts:
  • First layer is mostly a constant war zone, where being a badass warrior is praised; it is also where Kord resides and where people test their skills and guts in competitions. There are treehuggers (elves) over there too, and Olidammara's place.
  • Second layer is a "Land of Fire" with floating continents, hostile environment etc, and whatnot, and there's a bunch fire giants.
  • Third layer is a hot underground realm with geyser, hot springs etc and bunch of precious (and semi) precious stones. Mostly populated by dwarves and gnomes, but there are also some (apparently not so evil) picky drows over there.

Maybe inspire yourself out of Kord for the 1st ability (barbarian rage?), Olidammara 2nd (random bard/rogue things?), treehuggers 3rd (nature related SLAs?), Land of Fire 4th (something off the giants?), and underground w/e 5th (?). Or not.

Sorry it isn't anything all that concrete, I can't seem to find balance nor names for the abilities by myself. :blush

This kind of thing is excellent, I can absolutely springboard off of it.

How do you like the 6 nodes that are already posted?

Looks cool. Me wants to test those. :>

Oh, sorry but I've gotta ask. Maybe it's just my English failing me now or the wordings are a bit weird, but I'm confused as to how many abilities you get when you attune yourself to a node and what tiers of an ability have to do with it, if at all. Could I please get an example? Like, lets say from a 8th level PW with the Metanode feat and who's attune herself to Arcadia and Beastlands?

EDIT:

Pandemonium, some thoughts:

There's a need to have abilities about controlling/creating wind, darkness, madness/insanity. Maybe about silence/sound and deafness too. There's also place in the first layer where there are constant and harsh blizzards all the time, and the place is prowled by frost giants and winter wolves and some cruel entity etc. Home plane of Erythnul, on the third layer; people over there in his citadel are constantly killing each others. Fun stuff.

I find the second and last layers interesting in lore; look 'em up in Manual of the Planes p.98-99.

Nice stuff on Pandemonium too.  I'll add these two tomorrow (time willing).

I don't think the problem is on your end, I was never happy with the wording.  Basically, you get one ability from each tree that you qualify for (your choice).  Does that make sense?

So, if we go on with my previous example, when I attune to Arcadia, I choose one ability which will be, lets say, Plenty. After that, for the time it's attuned, I would be able to cast Create Water, Goodberry, Create Food and Water, and Minor Creation whenever I want, do the attunement checks when needed, (assuming I have the XP). Is this right?

Nope.  I missed your example, so I shall expound.

Your Arcadia/Beastlands PW would have 8 abilities, one tier chosen from each ability tree in each node.  They would get one of each from:
  • Bless, Aid, or Good Hope SLA;
  • Calm Animals, Calm Emotions, or Charm Monster SLA;
  • Inspire Courage +1, Inspire Competence, or Inspire Courage +3;
  • Create Water, Goodberry, Create Food and Water, or Minor Creation SLA;
  • SNA I, II, III, or IV SLA;
  • Entangle, Barkskin, or Plant Growth SLA;
  • Swim 20, Climb 20, or Fly 30;
  • and Bite of the Wererat, Werewolf, or Wereboar SLA.

Does that help?

:o Gosh, that's better than I thought. I get it now. Thanks.

EDIT:

Outlands:

I'm not sure about this one; Obad-Haï's there with his weird woods, and Boccob and his awesome library. There's Sigil with all its doors plus the Lady of Pain. The plane's full of portals leading everywhere in the Multi(Meta)verse, and these awesome (or not) limitations of every abilities in existence as you close in to the spire under Sigil. Also, any kind of creatures can be met here.

There's room for a bunch of things, but there's this idea of 'traveling wherever you wish to go under the utmost neutrality, at your own risk' with this plane, if you can see what I mean. Abilities to restrict things (Dimensional Anchor/Lock-ishy, Antimagic Field, I dunno) and to travel (Transport via Plants, Teleport, something with portals, etc). Thinking about Boccob, I think it could open the possibility of the magic item Craft line of feats.

EDIT 2:

Just wondering; I've seen you've done something for the Transitive Planes with Half-Elf sub. levels, but did you have any kind of ideas the Inner ones?

Just a few minutes ago (before I noticed your edit #2) I was considering the idea of a PW prc that did inner planes nodes... :)

BTW, did you notice the Extra Node feat I added yesterday, which would allow a non-half-elf to get the transitive nodes?

I like the PrC idea for those planes.

Also, I've noticed the feat before going to sleep yesterday. :p

It sucks, though -- I'll have to write 18 more nodes!   :shakefist

What about those in the appendix of MotP? Region of Dreams (Transitive?), The Plane of Mirrors (Transitive(s)), Spirit World (probably not since it is considered an astral plane variant IIRC), Elemental Plane of Cold (Inner), Elemental Plane of Wood (Inner), Temporal Energy Plane (Inner), Plane of Faerie (Outer), and Far Realm (beastly)? :p

I shall try and help you in this excessively long endeavor. /pat

That's a lot of planes... the problem is that we'll reach saturation of different abilities at some point...

OK, so I've been thinking about this and I some ideas.  Here was my thought process:

~Why would the Inner Planes be prestige and the Outer Planes not?  And how do the Transitives fit in?
~Really, all three should be base.  But that's just too many for a given character.
~Why don't I make it so you can choose 1 of 3 tracks at first level (inner, outer, transitive)?  And then you can only pick from your track, unless you take the feat.
~Then I make a prestige class that lets you choose freely between all 3 tracks, but at a reduced level for qualifying (like 6/10 or something).
~If I do this I'll have to remove some of the energy-based ability trees from the outers I've already done and put them in inners.

How does all that sound??

Actually that looks good, but I wouldn't actually split it by inner, outer and transitive; there's a bunch of outer planes, but there's like two times less inner planes, and even less so transitive ones.

Not if you include the Paraelemental and Quasielemental planes, which was my plan.  Here's a full list of every plane I can find to include:

  • Outer Planes
    • Abyss
    • Acheron
    • Arborea
    • Arcadia
    • Baator
    • Beastlands
    • Bytopia
    • Carceri
    • Celestia
    • Elysium
    • Gehenna
    • Hades
    • Limbo
    • Mechanus
    • Outlands
    • Pandemonium
    • Ysgard
  • Inner Planes
    • Air
    • Ash (Fire+Neg)
    • Dust (Earth+Neg)
    • Earth
    • Fire
    • Ice (Air+Water)
    • Lightning (Air+Pos)
    • Magma (Earth+Fire)
    • Mineral (Earth+Pos)
    • Negative
    • Ooze (Earth+Water)
    • Positive
    • Radiance (Fire+Pos)
    • Salt (Water+Neg)
    • Smoke (Air+Fire)
    • Steam (Pos+Water)
    • Vacuum (Air+Neg)
    • Water
  • Transitive/Other Planes
    • Astral
    • Dream
    • Ethereal
    • Far Realm
    • Material
    • Mirror
    • Shadow
    • Time

I didn't include Cold (because Ice), Wood (it's not an element, it's an organic material so it fits in others), Faerie (because Arborea), or Spirit (because Astral).  Nor did I include Demiplanes... that could be another PrC in itself.

So how about this?  You pick either Inner or Outer, and you can get the others via feat, half-elf sub level, or if you take the prestige class and can pick freely.

Also, I'm going to add Attune Node & Improved Attune Node feats (a la Bind Vestige & Improved Bind Vestige)

EDIT: This whole plan makes so much sense that I'm going to just run with it.

Lol, just kidding.  It may very well take a while to finish them all, but you're the only PW in the party right now, so if you're going with the Outer track then we're fine, I'll focus on those first.
