Optimization/WtF do I do? Help Needed
« on: January 19, 2012, 11:34:12 AM »
I need help picking feats;

I realize some things are sub optimal but this is my chance to make the character do more and "shine" A lot of the existing choices are flavor and character related, however anything I haven't done is free to be tweaked with. My issue comes from my lowered familiarity with Pathfinder and desire to challenge myself with something new.

Anything and everything is allowed, (3.5e & PF WotC and otherwise....)

I'm attempting to do as much as I can from "free D&D Sources" so; http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=1109.0 and the SRD's for PF/3.5 This is by no means necessary however more of just my goal, anything from these sources will be valued more highly than the others, but I'm trying to spice things up now.

The game is Gestalt, however I can not PrC on my Cleric half, starting at level 1.

Feat recommendations, are what I'm really looking for. However suggestions for the melee side after level 11, or what exactly to do with my PF rogue (this is a learning game for me, on the new abilities although I know the basics) are welcome. Yeah I had to sack the caster level for the LA :(

Thanks in advance.

Got what I needed

Some obvious thoughts that immediately surface with this sort of character:

- As a Cleric, I advise taking Divine Metamagic, specifically for Persistent Spell. This allows you to spend uses of Turn Undead to decrease the metamagic cost of Persistent spells, essentially allowing you to have 24 hour buffs for the normal spell slot cost.

- As a Rogue, you want to capitalize on your sneak attack via the Two-Weapon Fighting feat tree. Since sneak attack is applied for both your main hand and your offhand weapons, this will effectively double your damage output. Also, if you are allowed to use the Penetrating Strike alternate class feature, I highly recommend it. It allows you to deal half of your sneak attack damage to things normally immune.

- Since it would seem that undead is a theme for your character, I suggest utilizing material from Libris Mortis. Necropolitan or the Tomb Tainted Soul feat would come in handy for you, as well as the Corpsecrafter feats if you plan on making your undead minions more effective.

Thanks for the input, all normal 3.5e optimization stuff, unfortunately short of getting the penetrating strike in none of it helps.

Penetrating strike I'll look at I might still be able to ACF it on the PF rogue, however DMM is out as its a PF cleric no turning.

TTS isn't necessary, the PF cleric Archtype gets it for free at level 8? (or 10) thanks for the tips again, Corpsecrafter is a definite go however later on in the build.

Fewer things are immune to PF sneak, the twf with reach too from warshaper... was thinking about multi weapon fighting on the top end though or something similar, to use warshaper nat weapons.

Thank you for taking the time to post a reponse.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, I am rather unfamiliar with both Gestalt and Pathfinder, aside from the more unique base classes like Witch and Gunslinger.

If you are planning on using the natural weapons of Warshaper, perhaps the Half-Minotaur template would be of help. It gives you some remarkable stat bonuses, large size, a gore attack, and a few other smaller benefits, all for the cost of a mere +1 LA.

Though again I am unfamiliar with Gestalt beyond the basic premise of it, there are a couple of prestige classes I thought I should mention. If you are evil, I suggest looking into the Strife Leader, or if you are good the Shadowbane Stalker is worth a look. Both advance sneak attack, have 8/10 casting IIRC, and grant some other handy abilities as well.

Just some thoughts, hope they help.

I thought the 3.5 >> Pathfinder conversion document stated that Turn/Rebuke Undead was now called Channel Energy.  (I know Pathfinder made Channel Energy far different than in 3.5.)
