Okay, I often help people in my groups make their characters because I have read the books through and am on sites like this often. However, a new player to our group asked me to help him make a character that I have no idea as to how to make sure he ends up happy. So I am asking ya'll for help.
What he wants is Robocop. Not similar to Robocop, or based on Robocop, he wants to be Robocop. The name on the otherwise still blank sheet is Alexander James Murphy. The most important thing seems to be that he wants a "gun" and he wants it to be stored in his right leg when not in use.
The problems are:
A) That there is a "no Artificers" restriction right now
B) It has been a long time since I saw those movies, and he is the type of geek that gets into full-on nerd-rage arguments about things, so I don't think I can get away with half-assing it. As an example, there was a point that it was suggested that he might have to be NG, and the only way he ended up happy with that was after two people spent 10 minutes going analyzing Murphy's alignment throughout second movie.
C) I don't want him to be useless in the party. (No one else cares if he is or not though, but I don't think we need another lump)
What I have to work with
Level: he will be joining at level 16
Race: He wants it to be Warforged.
Stats: Rolled; 17, 15, 15, 14, 11, 8
Starting Wealth: by WBL chart, 280,000 (The campaign is a monty haul though, one person could be liquidated for 7,000,000).
Restrictions: WotC material. No third-party. No Artificers. Dragon material run by DM. No Unearthed Arcana. No Psionics (DM is "one of those"). Action Points only come from Feats and PrC’s.
Other Party Members
Warblade: melee fighter who can deal ~150 damage per turn.
Hood / Ubercharger: melee fighter who can deal ~200 damage per turn, ~3-400 on charging high-jump.
Cleric: archer who can deal ~90 damage per turn, and is our walking wand of CLW.
Shadowcraft Mage: handles BFC and de-buffing.
Lump: is a lump. Doesn’t realize that he is a lump, and has fun.
What I’ve been thinking
Warlock to Hellfire Warlock (we already have permission to ignore the alignment) who’s scepter is re-flavored to be his “gun”. Using the action point / unfettered heroism / wand surge to cast restoration to recover from the con damage.
No idea how to put it into his leg. No idea what else I should be preparing to do for Officer Murphy.
