Hello Folks
« on: January 30, 2012, 03:30:22 PM »
-Your name
Felix Underwood (also brilliant gameologists username)
Ninja1 (old wotc boards)
Bruce (real life)

-Your favorite games
3.5 D&D
I'm running my first E6 game, and I'm stupidly excited about it.

-Your non gaming hobbies
Watching SciFi  (or is it SyFy?)
Caring for 2x house rabbits.

-Where you live, including country, without using abbreviations
Aburn, Massachusetts, United States of America (I can't abbreviate that?)

-What other communities you belong to meetups, message boards etc
American Chemical Society
I wanted to like Mythweavers, but I stopped trying after a few failed starts.

-Your twitter, facebook or G+ handle
I am still just saying "no" to these social media sites.  I have an addictive personality, and I heard horror stories.  I'm in LinkedIn for professional networking, but that's it.

It's been a while since I've tapped into the optimization community, and I'm looking forward to get re-acquainted.

Is there anyone here I should recognize?  Especially those that changed names?

Do you watch the SyFy channel? If you just watch any science fiction, it is scifi.
Anyways... what other hobbies do you have? Are you DMing or playing in the E6 game?

Welcome to the boards! Glad to have you!

Wouldn't that abbreviate to "Red-brown German mouse"?

Hey SneeR, thanks for the welcome.

I generally like all science fiction, movies and television.  I do watch the SyFy channel, but the new name bugs me.  My favorite series of all time has to be Firefly.  I also like fantasy/supernatural type stuff.

Outside of gaming, I don't have many other hobbies.  I spend time with the wife, take care of two rabbits, work on house projects or chores.  I have a stack of books I want to read (need to finish the Game of Thrones books), but more often than not, I'm reading D&D stuff and working on whatever current campaign I have going on.  I also waste time playing Masters of Orion 2 or Sid Myers Alpha Centauri (my versions of solitare).

I'm DMing the E6 game.  I'm using a setting that's a world entirely made up of scrubland / arid environment.  It gets a little more water than a desert does, but just little enough to make water sought after (and those that can cast Create Water are like rock stars).  Well water can cause illness, and the few reliable springs form the center of Large Towns (the largest communities).  Gently rolling hills hide old craters from ancient meteor impacts.  Non-humans and Arcane magic users are looked at with suspicion.  The campaign setting's history is a mystery in itself that the PCs may or may not uncover.

I'm experimenting with a "knowledge matrix".  I created a table with rows containing every knowledge skill, and columns for 0 to 9, with 0 containing everyday knowledge that everyone knows, and 9 containing rare knowledge that may come up towards the end of the campaign.  The PCs started with extra info about the campaign setting based on the ranks in certain knowledges.

Hey Prime32, is that cockney?  I actually had to google that, but came up short.

That Knowledge matrix sounds pretty cool! Do you think you can post it so I can swipe--er, draw inspiration from--it?

Don't worry about understanding Prime32. He's some kind of prolific visionary around here...

Wait, are you one of my players in disguise?   ;)

I'd certainly be willing to share it with individuals, but I'm not certain I'd want to post it in case one of my players does poke around here.
