[Pathfinder] Antipaladin Optimization Opportunities?
« on: February 07, 2012, 09:17:07 PM »
When I saw the Antipaladin, I figured upon first inspection that it wouldn't be that different to play in a game versus a PF paladin. Then I saw Aura of Cowardice and I was a little surprised! Creatures that are within 10 ft that are normally immune to fear lose that immunity?! Sure, that means you negate a paladin's aura of courage, but what about undead or construct traits that make them immune to fear? How far does this thing go? There's no save, no SR because this thing is an SU ability and it's always on.

What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah, reading the text, it is quite clear that woks on anything immune.
A nice 3 level dip for an Intimidate Focused Fear user, or even for spell based Fear users to round things up at later levels.
Im really bad at what I do.
A+

I was looking at a couple of paladin feats to see if there were published Antipaladin versions, but I've not located any official sources. However, even without a rework, taking Fearless Aura and having it extend the range of Aura of Cowardice would be worthy of a feat. To give parity with the paladin version (precedent being that Extra Lay on Hands gives you more Touch of Corruption) one would have to work with their GM. I think tacking on a Fear Aura component to it that gives the Shaken condition to those that fail a will save would work but if anyone has a better suggestion, I'd be willing to hear it.   :)

I think a lot of the optimization would be centered around the 2nd part of the fiendish boon.  Gaining a permanent monster to follow your every command is incredibly helpful. If they weren't only chaotic evil, I would like to actually try them.
