Just made some spanakopita (imagine a samosa, if a samosa was made of filo pastry and filled with feta, spinach and spring onion). Going to gobble them down with dolmades, and a nice salad.

Yesterday we had company over, so my wife made...

Lunch:
~Salad of arugula, grana padano cheese, marcona almonds, golden raisins, and lemon juice & olive oil for a dressing
~Homemade quiche with crimini mushrooms, onions, garlic, and mascarpone, romano, and aged fontina cheeses

Dinner:
~Salmon kebabs on the grill with red pepper and red onion; salmon was marinated in coconut milk, red chili paste, ginger, and garlic
~jasmine rice with cilantro
~A sauce of yogurt, cilantro, garlic, fresh ginger, lemon juice & zest

DELICIOUS

Has anyone else noticed how cinnamon is the most amazing spice of all time?  I mean, I use it in everything, including the burgers I made tonight.  They ended up being too spicy (too much cayenne, not too hot to handle, just spicier than I wanted them), but the other spices were spot on.  A little garlic powder, chili powder or paprika (one or the other, both is redundant), cinnamon, and cayenne for heat, with salt and pepper of course.

I always add a bunch of herbs to my burgers as well; mostly oregano, rosemary and thyme. I think it improves the taste quite a bit.

As for cinnamon: Swedish people love a good bolognese to the point where pretty much everyone has their own recipe and I am quite fond of adding some cinnamon and cloves to it.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1607740036/leitesculinari  omg want!

A little late to the party, but I must have this thing.  I've been using Bhut Jolokia sauce on everything--even just eating it straight--and this thing fills me with avaricious wonder.
“Hast thou not felt in forest gloom, as gloaming falls on dark-some dells, when comes a whisper, hum and hiss; savage growling sounds a-near, dazzling flashes around thee flicker, whirring waxes and fills thine ears: has thou not felt then grisly horrors that grip thee and hold thee?”

I don't know.  Mostly because we have three different kinds, and I can't remember what kind the good stuff is.  I think it's Ceylon, but it could be Polynesian.  I know it's not Chinese (cassia).  The other two are just "cinnamon".  A poorer quality powder and then some sticks.  To for type, let's go with McCormick and Meyers.

Not food really but I am currently sipping a glass of this this.  It doesn't go with the drink but damn me if I'm not going to eat a pot noodle with 4 slices of cheese on toast afterwards!

Last night, my wife made possibly the best pizza either of us had ever eaten.  It was unbelievably good, and I will share the recipe with you folks because I like you.

Prep:
  • Grate a bunch of Romano and Grana Padano (or other Parmesan) cheese.  I dunno how much, she doesn't measure.
  • Crumble & brown some hot italian sausage (we used about 2.5-3 links) in a saute pan.  When you turn off the heat, add some chopped garlic so it warms but doesn't cook too much.
  • Parboil some green kale in salted water for 2-3 minutes, then drain and pat dry as much as possible.  When it's dry, toss with oil, some of the grated cheeses, salt & pepper, and lemon zest.
Construction:
  • Prepare your pizza crust (we didn't have time to make or thaw, so we used a pre-made crust, and it was still delicious).
  • Spread crust with a thin layer of tomato paste, then sprinkle that with some of the grated cheeses
  • Layer the sausage & garlic mixture on top of the paste, and sprinkle with more of the grated cheeses
  • Crack 3-4 large eggs, spread out over the pizza.  Sprinkle the yolks with salt & pepper and a little romano
  • Layer the kale evenly over the sausage & eggs, and sprinkle with a little more grana padano
Finishing:
  • Bake until it's done as per your crust.  We did 450 ºF for about 10-12 minutes, but YMMV.
  • Right when the pizza comes out of the oven, sprinkle a little bit of lemon juice over the top.
  • Let sit for ~5 minutes, then eat it.  All of it.  Immediately.

Candied chili pepper recipe for bhu and other chili-head lunatics like myself.  Good with Thai chili peppers and habanero, if you've burned off enough taste buds with spicy foods or are simply a masochist.

A hangover from hell left me craving soft, easy to eat foods -  so made a crimini, oyster and morel mushroom risotto.  I made enough for me and three housemates but ended up eating it all myself and now I can't really move.

Just have a handful of gliclazide and a syringe of insulin on hand for the scoffing and you'll be fine! :P

I suppose you could try pickling the chilli instead?
