Burning Hate
« on: February 15, 2012, 07:49:42 PM »
Can someone explain the reasoning behind the whole Pelor/Burning Hate heresy thing?  I remember reading a thread a long time ago, but can't remember exactly what the arguments were.
Oh, and is this "official", or is it more of a thing someone noticed?
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

A classic and probably my favorite thread of all time. It's right up there with the uranium katana thread. :D

Can elves wield greatswords?
Oh, I forgot about that one! I seem to remember Vestigial Thumb being rather crude in there, and the thing devolving into werewolves and dwarves (or was it orcs?) being more manly than elves and vampires, and it being impossible for the first two to wield a rapier and impossible for the last two to wield a greatsword. So, a dwarf (orc?) werewolf would be the epitome of manliness, and elven vampires would be the opposite. That thread was further made funny by someone replying to the OP 11 pages in without looking at the current topic. So, amid the discussion of elves, werewolves, and the nature of manliness, there'd be a lone post along the lines of "Of course an elf can wield a greatsword! What kind of stupid question is this? What's next? Can gnomes wield greatswords?"

I'm also rather fond of the Fluffy vs Steve thread (I wrote a program to simulate this!) and the weapon thread where people photoshopped a bunch of stupid weapons (three daggers on a stick for 3d4 damage, or two greatsword blades on one handle for 4d6 damage).

Lol. 2007 was a good year! :D

Does anyone have a link to the "can elves wield greatswords?" thread?  My google-fu is failing me.

I just read through the photoshopped weapons thread... besides the fact that half the links are dead, that thread is epic.  My favorite is the Dire Elminster-Chucks.

Please provide a link to the photoshopped weapons thread. That was possibly the best discussion on the interwebs since, well, ever.
Normally, I would be reading this, open the reply box, decide what I had to say didn't need said, and close out. But this is just too ridiculous.

Ha! My three original shops are still up there. I was reasonably certain I hadn't taken them down from Photobucket.

I tried to find the elves and greatswords thread too, and all I could find was a four-year-old comment about it by me in the 3d4 damage thread. Lame.

Really RobbyPants? A nun-chuck bow? Nun-chucks are already dangerous enough to the wielder, now you want to add tension reflex to the speed of the chucks?

You comment on that weapon and not the crossbow that shoots a bugbear dual wielding purple worms?

I believe I'm going to describe a Ragewalker's spiked chain as the fractal version when I get around to using it.
