Well, that's interesting. About how deep is the cavern overall, and about how far in is the knife? Are there any other exits within the frozen area, and is there any area of the cavern (other than the part we're in) that isn't solid ice?

What's Flash-Freeze? I don't have Frostburn. I know what Blue Ice does from the preview, though.

Edit: To confirm, is the ice itself blue ice, or is it just a coating of blue ice around the room's edges and regular ice in the otherwise open space?

Flash-Freeze.

The cavern is about 100 feet deep, and the knife is about 70 feet in, in the center.  There's a lake which is presumably fed by the river, but the top portions of it are all frozen.

EDIT: And the knife is a kukri, if anyone's interested.

And isn't Blue Ice pretty expensive itself? We should get some of that stuff, too...

You guys know enough to know that you don't have the equipment for it at the moment.  But maybe in the future...

((Recovering rituals. Ritual casting has officially gone from "fun" to "awesome" in my books.))

...it wasn't before?? ;)

Ignore the A&E if you only wanted the best modifier.

Oh man, but A&E has the best television programming..

Just saw this.  It's a coating on the interior surface.  The ice itself is just regular ice maintained by Flash-Freezes.

Lol is Snowy going to take Magic Insight as an invocation?  You guys could use Identify right about now...

Legion can do it via Green Lady. Both directly (with the Identify spell) and indirectly (with that granted vestige power that IDs things with a Spellcraft check). And I should be able to boost said Spellcraft check a bit with my rituals, too.

Anything down in the lake/leading to where it's fed by the river?

Edit: Reminder to self - Check out that keystone in the arch at the cave entrance that glowed when we entered (IC thread, page 10). With all that's going on, this definitely isn't a normal cave.

Also, the stick with symbols. Kyle was supposed to have taken it to show to Legion later.

And, yes, I've just spent a bit of time reading over our recent adventures.

OK... but I still think my idea for creating a frozen prison was a good one.  :D I'm definitely going to have to use that sometime.

It seems like it's always some kind of magical bars of force, with a dimensional lock, or a pocket dimension (iron flask), etc, holding back the BBEG/demon/elder evil/etc. But why not just freeze him? That seems a lot easier to pull off with lower level magic, and it's cooler... (Yeah, I went there.)
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

Mostly because short of a GM setting the world up that way, most things that you'd want to seal away have Cold Resistance?

There was one unexplored area to the north, where centipede husks came from. Ignore or Explore?

Kara blinks, a bit surprised. Then sees the new passage. "Jinkies."

Legion says "Zoinks!"
