Augury Part I: New Beginnings

The skinny human walks in the middle of the group, nervously looking around, knowing for sure that at any moment, without any notice, he could be dead.

"Yeah, let's go for the chamber."

Legion clanks along noisily beside his stealthy, fleshy friends, mostly oblivious to the sounds of the cave around him. Although hard to read, he seems to be lost in his own thoughts. The flash of the rune has perhaps unlocked some ancient memory from the multitude deep inside him.

As Kyle speaks, he seems jogged free from his revere for a moment, and says absentmindedly "Yes..."

I guess I messed up on the number of rolls there... Take the first two, I guess.

"What's this?" murmurs the girl. She goes to check what's on the right.

The passage heads down a little further, the sounds of rushing water getting louder.  The air also gets even colder.  Soon you come to a point where the passage forks again and widens somewhat, heading off to the left and right.

B O O N  follows along with his weapon in hand. He lets his 'fam' decide what tunnel to traverse.

[Flay Crimsonwind]

Isaac, caught between wanting to explore the cavern and wanting to keep the group together, curses. "Are we all diverting now? We should do this systematically, and not chase sounds..." He watches Snowy and Boon head down the other direction. Confused by the rune, and the pieces of the guardian's story that he understood, he doesn't like the idea of being sidetracked or lost in these caverns.

Kara points to the nearby chamber. "Then let's check this one out. They can both see well in the dark so they won't need the light."

Not really bothering to wait for a reply, she peeks into the chamber, forgoing stealth for the moment as their voices had likely already betrayed their presence. Should the room appear safe, she will search it.

You move into the chamber, which is actually quite large (almost 120') and irregularly shaped.  The tunnel continues at the far end where the room narrows down again; at that end you can see an area which has been blocked by a cave-in.

Kara searches the room thoroughly.  It's not clear what the purpose of the chamber was, as there's a fine layer of rock dust and frost over everything.  It seems there must have been an earthquake here at some point in the past, as there are thick cracks running through the floor and walls, but the edges of the cracks are worn by age.

You discover, in the right-hand wall, a small hidden alcove.  Sitting in a petrified wooden stand is a foot-long stick of wood stained a deep maroon, with spidery green symbols carved in it.

Kara looks at the stick. "Hey Kyle. This is one of your types of things, isn't it?"

There's frost in the cave? That's very odd... though I'm not sure if my character would know that... since he's not actually all that bright (10 int) and has 0 ranks in Know: Nature and Dungeoneering.

"Mmh... Should be. I can't make a proper identification at the moment but Legion should be able to do that. For now I'll keep it, then I'll show him."

The sounds of rushing water are louder to the right, and there's a slight breeze from that direction.  No air is moving from the left at all.  Both sides just seem to be passages.

Hum, running water..? Does this path lead somewhere outside...?

Still furtively and now carefully, she takes on the right passage.

((Take 10 on Hide/Move Silently like before (16/12 not 17/13, I forgot she's wearing studded leather) and she readies her breath weapon every round she'll be walking))

You come to the end of the passage, where it opens above a racing underground river... probably the Silverfish that runs past Springley Downs.

Isaac notices the stick, but lets Kara take care of it. He meanwhile investigates the cave-in, seeing if the other side is visible through a crack, or if it's too deep to hope to excavate.

B O O N  still with his weapon drawn follows Snowy through the tunnel. Standing over the underground river he says to her " Huh.... now what?  Seems like that big rat was maybe a little paranoid huh? "

Snowy stops next to Boon, giving a brief look at the river and then she turns around. The girl replies "I guess we should go check that other way. I wouldn't be so sure as to nothing might be here though. Am I too optimistic, eh? "
