As Legion approaches, the two non-shriekers scuttle forward, extending tentacles toward him.

((Initiative, of course.))

The flaming, metalline dragon is not surprised, and brings his spear to bear on the approaching fungi.

The fungi each whip a tentacle towards Legion, both of which miss.

Nora'Luuu waits for Legion to do what he's got planned with that lick of flame. He'll jump in once they're aflame.

Legion decides his spear is a better weapon against opponents that fight back, and steps back beside Snowy and stabs the fungus on the right.

I can't buff anyone until my turn comes up. 2 round durations don't make for good out of combat buffs. Free action casting makes for great in combat buffs, though.

This fight will still be Ritual of Intuition (spend an immediate action to get +1 insight on a d20 roll). I think we decided for future I should use Ritual of Protection (DR 2/- and resist energy 2 for all energy types). Remind me after this encounter, I'll shuffle my rituals around. I think I can even pick up a second group buff (although it costs another ritual).

Seeing a clear line, she tosses a dagger at the one in front of her. "More of these annoying little buggers."
Hmm.

Nora'Luuu takes the opportunity to scamper into melee with one of the goliath fungi and swings wide with his longsword, looking perhaps to strike at the two of them in one wide swing.

The war-hiss he issued would be more rallying if he wasn't so damn fluffy.

The fire-breathing kitty does what she usually does best; after hissing at their attempt to harm Legion (and since he move out of the way), Snowy breathes a cone of enmeshing fire on the two HFAUs. She then moves behind Legion's legs just so she can see the HFAUs between 'em.

shaking his head from the momentary confusion, Isaac leaps into action, closing in next to Legion and readying his blade. As he takes the final step, his sword flashes overhead in a threatening but obvious arc.

Legion shoves his spear at one of the fungi, scoring a deep gash in its purplish, spongy flesh.  It lets out a quiet keening sound, much softer than you expect.

Kara flings a knife at the one in front of her, leaving an almost identical gash and making the two a matched pair.  The second one keens softly as well.

Nora'luuu takes a swipe at each of the fungi and misses as the oversized portabellos clumsily avoid his swings.

The flamethrowing cat scorches them as well, leaving a surprisingly delicious odor, and then Isaac shakes off his confusion and cuts the one Legion damaged in half.

Two things first:

1) Did I understand correctly that one of the two fungi is down?
2) Should I be suspicious of the fact that initiatives 16-18 were bolded, but 7-9 were not?

1) Yes, and 2) only of my laziness.

5' step up so everyone's within 10 feet, pop Rit Combat, pop Rit GHope (Rit. Intuit.), Rapid Shot pop two arrows into the one that's still flailing about. Same thing as before.

Let me know if you want me to rewrite that in actual English. And with less pop.

Rolls (they're pumpernickel).

Sorrel sends a crossbow bolt into the other fungus, and it drops.

Since they can't move or attack, you clean up the rest of the Shriekers and finally there is silence in the caverns.

The threat passed, Nora'Luuu decides that now that his ears and eyes saw no further danger, his nose told him of something else.

These things smelled delicious.

He returned his longsword to the leather and fur sheath along his back, and drew one of his knives from his hip, and proceeded to cut a piece of these fungal things to sample. He'd start with the tentacled ones, since their deliciousness was already confirmed by scent. Though, since they were a rather pretty color, that usually meant they were dangerous, so he'd only start with a nibble.

Nora'luuu takes a little nibble of the lovely, fragrant mushroom.  It goes down easy... and then his insides twist and his mind goes screwy.

((Fort save DC 13, please.))

Link to Fort Save

Just a harmless nibble, really. Nora'Luuu really should have known better, truth be told. He knew that the boring colored things were safe, while anything in nature that drew attention to itself was dangerous, would kill you, and was best left alone. Bright flowers, vibrant mushrooms, pretty ladies... deadly and best left alone.

So why did he nibble on the brightly colored and very pretty mushroom? Maybe because he never saw it and figured it was the exception to the rule, or maybe being around all these soft-skinned city dwellers made him soft and sloppy. Either way, the nibble went down easy, and was hacked up and spit out just as easily, though his tongue was still a little numb...

The flaming mechanical dragon watches the little furry warrior cut up and eat one of the fallen fungal fighters with curiosity, then turns to lead the way on down the path.
