Getting plus size winterwear
« on: March 14, 2012, 08:27:02 AM »
Wondering if any of you guys can help me out.

I'm a pretty plus size person, shoulder to shoulder roughly 19 inches across.

I'm trying to find decent winterwear that would actually fit me. I'm planning to head to Japan end of this year, winter and all average 12 degrees celsius in the day to around below 6 at night.

Anyone of you knows of a store with a website and online shopping function that has winterwear of my size and slightly bigger?

I'm not sure if they have stuff the size you need (they at least have a tall category, and the coat I got was too big at their large category and I'm above average around the shoulder), but Bean has the best outdoor gear around.

I believe I'm at least a 52 inch around my chest.

XXL or 2XL is near universally 50-52 inches.
Walmart has that size and sometimes 3XL too.
So you can get something cheap.

Outdoors-y Stores usually have a Ski section.
They've got the right gear for people who ski :
at night , in snow , working out , long time.
Much pricey than the Wal.

Yeah, that sounds like a men's 2x or 3x at your typical big box store.

Dillard's carries plus size coats -- they're gonna be an arm and a leg if you get it at the end of the year, but check and see if there are any near you and then call them to see if they have any left in stock. You're gonna get a ridiculous price on it right now if they do.

...a super fucking ridiculous price.

It better be cheap. I'm in Singapore and shipping will rip a hole in my wallet through my ass.

I would hope there be a local big box, then.  I don't know about SG, but Japan has ドン・キホーテ.
