so i'm finding. even if it pulls the the text, font, color, tables and lists out correctly, (debatable) there are still all the meta tags and extraneous page links that still litter the passage.

Although, if you can find one that does tables right, I would use it just for that

...bb is "bulletin board". The old board used SMF 1.0, this one uses SMF 2.0.

it would be nice if we could login to the old boards with the ability to edit the posts, as say, mods.... not for the purpose of editing, but so that we could see the code in the edit field. that way we could simply copy the code directly over, rather than having to try to filter it through several convertors.... =p

i don't suppose there is any chance of something like that happening?

Even if just one of us was granted it, then they could much more easily and swiftly port the threads over!

Huh, I was able to modify my handbook. That's how I ported it so perfectly.

Edit: It appears Handbook Writer has mod powers (or possibly only limited mod powers) since it is able to edit any post in a thread started with it (but not posts in other threads).

Edit2: Speaking of Handbook Writer should we have one for this forum? It would be especially useful since we could put all/most of the ported handbooks under its control.

Everyone can edit threads that they themselves have started on the old boards. This includes other peoples' posts.

that's awesome. but unless i can get the original author to edit post, copy paste into a word doc or something, and send it to me, it's still a challenge to port a thread one did not start.

i was not aware of the edit other posts in a self started thread, so thanks for that . unfortunately, i only have one i think in the handbooks section. *^^*
