Sorry mates, but this is now on at least a temporary halt. My laptop sort of bailed on me and I have lost all the files I had, including my back-ups (I have no idea how my external HD got corrupted, although it was attached to the computer at the time of the implosion). So, for now, I am a bit more worried about saving all my pictures, school works and, well, everything than running a game. Sorry!
Quite understandable

Best of luck

Fiddling around with System Restore right now. Luckily I have this old computer at my Father's place, so I can get online quite regularly, but losing all the files sucks ass. I even backed up everything I had on my cellphones only a few weeks ago, there were a couple of thousand pictures that have not been stored elsewhere, all my school work is gone and so forth. The odd thing is that the external HD got fucked as well. I tried it on this computer as well, but couldn't see a darn thing. If the computer starts working again, that is not a big problem, since most of the stuff on the external HD is not unique.

System Restore decided to work. No error messages, but I am still trying to figure out the fate of my files. Thumbs up! If this blows over, I have earned my whiskey.

:D

Hopefully, when you're finished, it will all be like a bad dream. Also, you can always take the external hard drive to a computer store like Best Buy, for example, and ask them to retrieve the files from it, or even see if they can repair it. They're usually pretty good about things like that, although it could be pretty expensive depending on exactly what happened to the thing.

It's a 1 terabyte hard drive and I'll be honest with you, it's not entirely packed with school work back-ups and the prospect of paying shitloads of money to the authorities strikes to me as a bad course of action.

Clearly, Dispater is more paranoid than we thought, preventing even the most remote possibility of a victory over Hell.

:lol Good luck, man! It sounds like it might be working out, if system restore actually worked.

Well, I was actually thinking either Minauros or Avernus, not Dis.

Not exactly sure whether or not this computer of mine actually works. Heats up pretty darn quick, so I am going to clean it up tomorrow from the inside and hope for the best.

My old laptop started heating up really fast, and after I took it apart to clean it, I found a HUGE lint ball in the internal fan. The fan simply wasn't even turning a little bit. This caused the computer to operate at a lower power and speed and to heat up much faster than normal. After I removed the lint ball, the computer not only stopped overheating, but it also ran much faster. Good luck!

While there haven't been any heating problems before this, I've been using this piece of shit for three years or so, which means it probably has collected more than its fair share of lint and dust that can be found in abudance in my student box. Never opened a laptop before though, so I am waiting a few more days for my friend to come back to town (he works with computers) to make sure I won't fuck anything up.

Luckily I am dumping this one at some point during the summer.

Blergh.  :(

Tshern, I'm sorry to be a naggypants, but I'm trying to decide on a char for another homebrew campaign, and what I play there depends on what I play here.  So... bump?

Hey Tshern, I think my char choice is very simple now.  If you'll allow this feat, then I'll play a factotum.  If not, I'll play a Warpsoul.

If the Warpsoul, how do you feel about me using Soulfused Transcendant?
