Hadouken!
« on: March 26, 2012, 12:50:32 PM »

Half-Minotaur Azurin Martial Monk 2/Dungeoncrasher Fighter 6/Totemist 2/Incarnate 4/Psychic Warrior 6
Stats: Str 40, Dex 20, Con 14, Int 6, Wis 20, Cha 8 [32pb]
Feats:
1st - IUSB, Stunning FistB, Power Attack, Improved Bull RushH
3rd - KnockbackB, Shape Soulmeld (Mauling Gauntlets)
6th - Shock TrooperB, Ring the Golden Bell
9th - Bonus Essentia
12th - Cobalt Power
15th - Double Chakra (Hands), Practiced Manifester (Psychic Warrior)B
16th - Point-Blank ShotB
18th - Snap Kick
19th - Precise ShotB

Equipment: +6 str, dex, wis; monk's belt; someone to cast Soul Boon at CL 16+.

Use Expansion to grow 2 size categories, becoming Gargantuan.  Bind Mauling Gauntlets and Sphinx Claws to the Hands chakra, and invest max essentia in those and Cobalt Power (5 for soulmelds, 4 for feat).

Using Ring the Golden Bell, you can use an unarmed strike at range (with a large damage boost from Mauling Gauntlets), with all the normal effects you can apply to unarmed strike, including Power Attack.  As long as you power attack for at least +1, you can then use Knockback to initiate a bull rush (HADOUKEN!).  You can pounce using the sphinx claws, so if you flurry (with snap kick) you can Hadouken up to 7 times in a single full attack action (but you only get 1+wis mod uses of RtGB in a single day), flinging them all across the room with your flying fists.

Bull Rush: +17 Str +12 size +4 improved bull rush +12 gauntlets +6 claws +4 cobalt power +X power attack = +55 + X.

Very nice

Too bad about the limited uses per day, but even if used on a regular melee monk the added versatility and range is very nice
And now I feel the urge to look up other effects to stack on...

Any idea what level Bloodwind is? The spell that lets you make melee attacks at a distance with natural weapons? It might be worth dropping the 6th Psy War level and taking a level of Druid or Wizard or whatever class gets it for a few extra daily uses.

I can't figure out how to add a few levels of Chameleon to this build. It gets relatively easy access to Bloodwind, whichever list that spell's on. At 2nd level, you get a floating feat to replace the Able Learner you had to spend to get in. At 4th it gets +2 to a stat that stacks with darn near everything else. The 6th level of Psy War should be easy to drop. Can you dump Incarnate down to 3 as well? Hmm, but that loses a point of essentia, and any more loses the capacity boost to Mauling Gauntlets.

RtGB is also in the Dragon Compendium.

Yeah, the example they give is Stunning Fist, but I love the idea of waving your fist at someone and bashing them 30 feet into the wall.

Blood Wind is Clr/Sor/Wiz 1.  I'm okay with dropping a level of Incarnate because Chameleon gets Soul Boon, too. :D

In fact, I could axe PsyWar entirely and replace it with Chameleon... fewer feats, but the best spell list in the game to replace it.  No expansion, but you get Polymorph instead (at level 5 off the Transformation Domain list, since you need to be doing Divine Focus with no Int).

EDIT: updated build.

Half-Minotaur Azurin Martial Monk 2/Dungeoncrasher Fighter 6/Incarnate 5/Chameleon 7
Stats: Str 40, Dex 20, Con 14, Int 6, Wis 20, Cha 8 [32pb]
Feats:
1st - IUSB, Stunning FistB, Power Attack, Able LearnerH
2nd - KnockbackB
3rd - Improved Bull RushB, Shape Soulmeld (Mauling Gauntlets)
6th - Shock TrooperB, Ring the Golden Bell
9th - Bonus Essentia
12th - Cobalt Power
15th - Double Chakra (Hands)
18th - Practiced Spellcaster (Chameleon)

And you have a floating feat.  I forgot entirely about the 2nd-level bonus feat from Martial Monk, so we didn't even lose anything but PBS, Precise Shot, and Snap Kick.  And if you decide you don't need pounce, you can bind Sighting Gloves to your hands chakra and get Precise Shot for free.

EDIT2: I dropped totemist for more incarnate, you just get more essentia and while the Sphinx Claws are nice, they aren't strictly necessary.  You're doing ranged stuff so pounce isn't required, and the Sighting Gloves are better in this respect (more damage, too).

See it in action!
Gah, I haven't seen that in forever.  SirP, What's your AB, or is it not rolled as a ranged attack?

Not great -- +21 - PA.  Some items to help that would be good.

If you dump 36k into a +6 Int item and add on the +4 floating stat boost from Chameleon, you still turn your 6 Int into 16, enough to cast the 6th level Chameleon spells you don't have yet.

Gorgeous.  So Arcane&Divine focus it is, and with some spell support that attack bonus will be much higher..

By the way, how are you getting the last two CLs for Soul Boon? Chameleon 7 is only CL 14. I'm guessing Suffer the Flesh, since you already have the restoration spells available to heal the damage? I don't think Chameleon alone qualifies for Practiced Spellcaster. Does it require an actual caster level or just the 4 ranks in Spellcraft?

Would enchanting your fists as "throwing" let them qualify for Brutal Throw, giving you a better to hit?

I'm pretty sure it's just the 4 ranks spellcraft.  And you only need CL 16 for Soul Boon to max you out in the things you care about.  Especially now that I've taken totemist (and sphinx claws) out of the build.

If you enchant your fists with Throwing (I'm assuming with a NoNA), why do you need RtGB?

That's true, but I don't know if RtGB would let you qualify for Brutal Throw, which would be one of the eastiest to boost you A.B.

Speaking of other various feats. Thunderclap (SS) lets you slam your hands together to produce a cone of sound that deafens and can knock people prone. It even flat out notes it puts out flames and such.

Downside? Full-Round action, no damage.
Upside? No limit on use. Lesser 'Hadouken' once you've exhausted Ring the Bell's uses per day.

True, but you have other ways of boosting your attack bonus with both Arcane and Divine focus.  Divine Agility and Divine Power, just on the divine side.
