grappling question
« on: April 04, 2012, 12:42:33 AM »
I remember reading that you can only grapple with creatures within 2 sizes of your own.

Am I remembering right? And if so, can you point me in the the right direction?

Well, HERE's the relevant rules.

There is no size restriction that I've ever seen (though, as a practical matter -- if the creature is too much bigger than you, grappling just becomes prohibitively difficult)
What does have a size restriction, OTOH, is bull rush and trip -- you can only bull rush or trip opponents that are one size category larger than you or smaller.

Step 3

Hold. Make an opposed grapple check as a free action.

If you succeed, you and your target are now grappling, and you deal damage to the target as if with an unarmed strike.

If you lose, you fail to start the grapple. You automatically lose an attempt to hold if the target is two or more size categories larger than you are.

In case of a tie, the combatant with the higher grapple check modifier wins. If this is a tie, roll again to break the tie.
Im really bad at what I do.

Well, I'll be damned.
I thought that sounded somewhat familiar; I just thought that I'd confused it with the other 2 ....  just goes to prove that reading the whole entry tends to help.
