What's the deal with Expeditious Dodge?
« on: April 06, 2012, 09:15:05 PM »
Is it really all that drool-worthy?

I get that it qualifies for Dodge prerequisites, and, from a purely mechanical standpoint, I get that a +2 Dodge bonus to everything is flat out superior to a +1 Dodge bonus to one thing.

But from a practical standpoint?  Why does it always seem like the default "If it's allowed, take it" replacement to Dodge for every build?
Moving 40 feet a round, every round, just doesn't seem like it would be practical in all situations.  ...Or safe.

Most of the times when it is a prerequisite, the build is usually quite mobile. Even when they are not, the benefit tends to be superior to regular dodge at most times. I mean most races have 30ft Movement speed, and getting +10 speed is quite easy from itemas/class features/spells, or even from Charging for any melee character. You wont be moving every round of course, but even in cases where you are activating it every other round, it is still effectively providing an equal bonus against one opponent. Against multiple opponents however, you will be taking far less hits across the board.

If not as a prerequisite though, no point in taking this feat, or its 3 other variants. There are much better options available.
Im really bad at what I do.
A+

I agree with you, OP.  Doesn't seem very practical.  basically seems to need Travel Devotion to work (otherwise archer swift hunters are trying to do an extra 5 ft step type trick and melee swift hunters are pouncing via Barb and thus have less freedom in deciding how far they'll be moving).
I do think if you should have swordsage in your build, Desert Wind Dodge is a no-brainer over Dodge, though.
