Not exactly 'most powerful', but mentionable are both Battle Dancer (cha to AC on lvl 1) and assassin (for death attack at lvl 1), makes them useful dips in the right build. Best I'd usually go for cleric or any ToB class.

Classes that grant you out-of-proportion bardic music, like Spellsinger, Warrior Skald, and Heartfire Fanner.

Last I checked, spellsinger just stacks for BM, without automatically granting you all music like Warrior Skald.

Yes, you're right! My mistake.

Pyrokineticist from XPH gives a touch attack weapon. It's like having continuous wraithstrike  :lol

Kind of. It's a ranged touch attack, so you can't use Power Attack with it, which is most of why Wraithstrike is so rad.

Edit:
Although, I guess if you enter in as a rogue, there's nothing stopping you from TWFing with them, which would be nice if you could catch your opponent flat-footed (or otherwise deny them their Dex bonus to AC). It also helps keep you out of melee.

Actually you can power attack with it.  Any feats you can use with a whip, you can use with the fire lash.  And you can power attack with a whip.

Yep.
Or you could shapechange into a Marillith and make 6 of them.

Primal Rager is in Dragon Mag #295, closer to the end.

I really like dipping Sohei when I need weapon focus. In the most important fight of the day you get increased speed, defense, damage, and an extra attack. Plus, you get to use some wands and scrolls. :O

I find myself going Barbarian 1/Fighter 1 a ridiculous % of the time to get Extra Rage. 3/day usually cuts it... I make a lot of barbarian-like characters but they rarely have more than 1 level in the class (to the point where I can't remember last time I did that).

Fighter 1 in general is great when you get a feat, hit-and-run fighter, and exoticist to get 4 exotic weapon proficiencies, and trading tower shield proficiency for extreme shields, gnome cloaks, etc...

Of course, Rokugan Ninja for +1BaB, +2 will, +1d6 sneak attack, Dodge, and nifty proficiencies with things like bastard swords and shuriken is lovely.

Yeah, I guess it depends on how you interpret that line "as well as any feats that apply to the use of a standard whip". I read that as being able to apply Weapon Focus (Whip) to the lash, but I could see reading it that way.

I saw "ranged touch attack" and figured it was a no-go.

I'd wager most of the weirdness from Pyrokineticist is leftover from 3.0 Whips being extremely odd ranged weapons, with language for the Fire Lash ability copy-pasta'd from 3.0 without considering the change in how Whips work in 3.5.
Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics.  Even if you win, you're still retarded.

Sure ... the Pyro lost some low level -festing, from 3.0 to 3.5.
The levels 9 and 10 abilities switched.  Minor re-edits.
iirc - there was one 3.5 psywar build with 3 pyro levels.
And carnivore's burn baby burn Pixie, the only good build.

But yeah, it was shooting a bunch of gaps, and wasn't all
that important to the overall improvements to 3.5 psi.

No, the best Pyro build is Homer the Flaming Bowling Ball of Doom.  :D

Has Nightmare Spinner been mentioned? No spellcasting progression at first level, but 1 additional spell slot at any level you can cast? Awesome stuff!

If 3 levels counts as a 'dip' then factotum is awesome.

2 levels for the chameleon PrC for that tasty floating feat.

And a dip into one level of Ranch of the Hidden Valley is great for any character of the plant type.

IIRC, Sandshaper 1 adds quite a few spells known for a sorcerer.

Would it be worth the trouble to compile this thread into a mini-handbook?
