Bard/Warblade Build
« on: May 09, 2012, 01:56:35 AM »
This likely won't be for next campaign as I'm hoping to be a synad psychic warrior for that one, but I know that eventually I'll be playing this. Probably the cycle afterwards. As such, I want to start the build early. I'm kind of OCD like that. Start something up a cycle before hand.

The race of choice is one of the races that we'll be given for that particular cycle based on previous races we've been. We also usually hit around level 21-24. I'm basing it on only getting level 21. I saw a similar build so I based mine off of it.

About the only thing I'm not a fan of is that to become a Subline Chord, I'll need to sacrifice a few skill points into cross-class skills in order to gain access to the class. Namely Knowledge (Arcana), Listen, and Perform. Everything else I can do easily with Bard 6. Haven't found a way around that yet. Being Human and taking Able Learner isn't an option as the human race doesn't exist in this campaign world. At least not pure humans. Everything's a half-breed, or pure monstrous breed.

Pair Link (+3 flanking bonus, +4 aid another bonus to attack or AC)

LA +1

How insane is your DM for this game?

Not very. It's just a campaign world that's been around for about 15 years, and things have happened over the course of time.

Lingering song is bleh, Melodic Casting isn't fabulous either.  I'd go with Dragontouched and DFI, myself.

Just what I saw in the Bard handbook so I took what I had access too since it seemed like a waste to get the dragontouched stuff. Fire's the easiest thing to resist, and later levels would be fairly useless.

Hi,

I'm not sure if Bardic Knack will work with Jack of All Trades.
Better check the RAW.

Best regards,
Pelzak

EDIT: It's not working by RAW.
Quote from: PH2
If the skill doesn’t allow untrained checks, you must have at least 1 actual rank to attempt the check.
Jack of All trades is giving you 1/2, not 1 so it's not working.

Well, if you also take Draconic Heritage, you can change the type to any energy type you want, including Sonic. Suddenly becomes a lot more awesome.

Pyroclastic gets you Sonic and Fire, so you could do one of each :)

Isn't Draconic Heritage prerequisite Sorcerer level 1?

Can you make your own legacy weapon?

+1 warning harmonizing  mwk lutebow with Continuous *undersong and *harmonize effects up... *joyous noise, too if you can help it.

I actually wrote that up some time ago.  Lute of the Master Strategist.  pity it got deleted with my old comp.

I can, but I thought Legacy weapons weren't worth it given the penalties you had to take.

The problem I've got with a bow is that it's not really a Tome of Battle weapon. Those were always melee classes.

If you're using that Lutebow as a bow, you're doing it wrong.  It's a terrible +1 weapon of suck.  It's an item you hold (or better yet, have your Spare Hand hold for you), and get nice bonuses from, including a net +10 to initiative and lots of defenses against stuff that tends to screws bards over.

Remember, the best WOLs are in no way actual weapons you fight with.

I'll have to look at the spare hand. I know I've heard of that item before.
