Christ for Crowd Control!
« on: May 14, 2012, 02:09:06 AM »
To anyone who says crowd control isn't worth it, refer them to Matthew 12:29 wherein Jesus Christ says:

"Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man?  Then he can rob his house."

I just found this amusing.  The notion of a "God" Wizard has roots in the Bible!

Seriously?

That's a 'find'? What has the world come to? Did all of you grow up under a rock?

Yes, what on earth can Endarire be thinking? This is the part of the forum where no one's allowed to have a sense of humor.

Perhaps he meant that it is astonishing that all users have not read the Bible word to word and tried to find quotes that can be understood in D&D terms rather than that we are not allowed to jest. Not quite certain which one is the better option though.

:plotting ... hmm ... strange parallels abound.

Example?
Pun-pun is fully human(-oid) and fully divine --- but also fully DM Fiat.

As such, were the ancient theologians capable of Contact Other Plane,
they would have included Pun-pun with their condemnations during:
Third Council of Constantinople (680–681) repudiating Monothelitism and Monoenergism.

LOL, Although, it could also be a tip to the homeowners.

Also omnipotent and omniscient (although not [AFAIK] omnipresent)

Well, he has a Nigh Infinite Spot check, a Nigh Infinite move speed, and can Greater Teleport with a Nigh Infinite Caster Level, so he might as well be omnipresent.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I have been accused of being cold and calculating. Indeed I do enjoy the (usually) rational thinking on this forum.

However I find nothing humorous here. A few things I find very saddening though.

Truly infinite spot/listen/true-seeing-distance (but that's omniscient) and a truly infinite move speed with trickses. List of Pun-Pun's abilities. But he can't at one time exist everywhere.

Yeesh, I know! That translation is awwwful [really? diarpasai gets rendered as two different and completely non-synonymous English phrases].

Or were we talking about something else?

According to Matthew 10:34 ("I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"), he's an advocate of fighters, too!

Ahh, quote mining for the win. I never thought to re-purpose that to D&D. Thanks, Endarire! I've found a new purpose for the Bible other than counter-apologetics.  :smirk

He also told his apostles to sell the clothes off their backs if they had to in order to buy a sword. Luke 22:35-38

Obviously means that they should not try to optimize AC, but that offensive power is what is needed to succeed.

Truly, a wise man. I'm not sure if he's worthy of worship (he is, after all, not a God), but praise is certain.
