Acronyms/abbreviations
« on: May 15, 2012, 10:15:45 AM »
Recently started playing again and am completely lost to all the different abbreviations people are using. Is there a list on site or somewhere else that has a list of commonly used abbreviations/acronyms?

Not far as I know, but quite a few handbooks explain the acronyms they use. Most of the acronyms refer to various books, so getting reacquianted with the full names of those can help quite a bit. SpC refers to Spell Compendium and pretty much all the acronyms starting with a C refer to a book of the Complete series, for example. I typed down a brief list of book acronyms to the spoiler below, hopefully that'll give you an idea how the system works in general.

This should help.  There's some stuff in there that doesn't see common usage on this board, but it's pretty complete.

Damn, that's a good resource, although the writer apparently does not know what Core means.

SS=Savage Species

I'm going to take this opportunity to talk about why “SS” is my least favorite acronym.

Books
  • Sandstorm
  • Savage Species
  • Secrets of Sarlona
  • Shining South
  • Song and Silence

Base Classes
  • Spirit shaman
  • Swordsage

Prestige Classes
  • Sand Shaper
  • Seeker of the song
  • Serpent slayer
  • Shadow scout
  • Shadow sentinel
  • Shadowbane stalker
  • Shadowsmith
  • Shadowspy
  • Shadowstriker
  • Shapeshifter
  • Silverstar
  • Sovereign speaker
  • Spellcarved soldier
  • Spellguard of Silverymoon
  • Spellsinger
  • Spellsword
  • Spellwarp sniper
  • Storm sentry
  • Stormsinger

It's ambiguous, is what I'm saying.
