A dragonwrought kobold changes its type to dragon (instead of humanoid (dragonblooded)). It seems to be a general consensus on this board and on others that this means it can age without the negative modifiers to the physical stats. So a venerable DWK will have a +3 in all mental stats, but no -6 to all physical stats.
  • Could anyone clarify why this is? What is the source to it?
  • Also, the dragonfire inspiration feat has the dragonblood subtype as a prerequisite. This would mean a DWK does not qualify, yes?
  • And lastly, what other sources of the dragon type and/or dragonblood subtype are there?
Races I've found: Kobold, DWK, Spellscale, Bozak (DR #315), Dractaur (MM3)
Templates I've found: Half-Dragon, Draconic

Best regards

Under the table labeled aging effects on p. 29 it says that "Ability penalties due to age do not apply to dragonwrought kobolds."

Anything with the Dragon type automatically qualifies as Dragonblooded.

For more sources of dragonblooded:
You can take the Dragonblooded feat.
The dragon disciple prestige class eventually makes you a dragon.
Dragon Magic has a whole suite of dragonblooded base races (silverbrow humans, forestlord elves, etc).

Dragonborn also makes you dragonblooded.

You can take the Dragonblooded feat.

I think you mean Dragontouched.

Both, actually.  Dragonblooded is a feat available primarily to Sorcerers in Complete Arcane.
