[3.5] Arcane PrC - good Fort and Ref
« on: June 07, 2012, 10:28:59 PM »
Are there any PrCs that advance arcane casting, and have good Fort and Ref saves? I've skimmed the books, but not finding anything.

Preferably first party, and not Dragon Mag.

If there is none that have both, what are some decent PrCs for arcane casters that have good saves in either Fort or Ref?

Cheers - T

Jade Phoenix Mage (Tome of Battle) has good Fortitude.  Same goes for many gish PrCs.
Ruathar (Races of the Wild) has good Reflex & Will.

Why's Reflex important to you? Is it a prerequisite thing?

Far as I remember (am AFB), Master of the Yuirwood from Unapproachable East. Also boasts d8 HD and good skills. Seems to be made for Rangers, but arcane types can qualify without too much trouble, and get 10/10 casting progression.

Dragonslayer & Spellsword both give +1 BAB, +2 Fort & Will, and +1 caster level.  Prestige Bard gives +2 Ref & Will, but you take a hit to CL at level 1.  Arcane Trickster gives +2 Ref & Will and +1 caster level.

Mage-Killer from Magic of Faerun gives you good Will saves, but at every odd level you can choose to increase your Fort or your Ref.  (It stacks with the general +1 you get to those saves every 3rd level.)

Also from MoF, Spelldancer and War Wizard both boost Fort & Will and don't cost you any CL.

Abj Champ is easy to qualify for.  Spell warp sniper has good dex, which is easily qualified for as well and can be combined with Abj champ.

Abj Champ can be found in Complete mage and Spellwarp sniper can be found in Complete Scoundrel.

But yes, most of the PRCs that have high fort and ref are Gish types.

If this character hasnt been created yet and I cant believe im suggesting this *gags*, go human and take Human Paragon or go warforged and take Warforged paragon (Eberron books) the one I am using is alot better then the home brew ones.

Master of the Yuirwood is good Fort and Will.  Also one of the neatest PrC's ever for the "I come and go in the forests as I please, but am not a druid" feel.  Once set up, it's like free teleporting and planeshifting at will.  Good anchors for contingencies and such.
