Stalwart Sorcerer - Silly RAW question
« on: June 17, 2012, 02:30:21 AM »
So Stalwart Sorcerer states the following:

Quote
You gain extra hit points equal to two times your
sorcerer class level. Every time you advance a level, you gain
another 2 extra hit points.
(So, at 1st level you have 2 extra hit
points, at 2nd level you have 4 extra hit points, and so on.)

If reading this strictly RAW, would you gain 2 Extra Hit Points each time you level, regardless of class that is actually taken? I ask because it has come up that it does not state advancing "class level" or "sorcerer level" which it should state.

Now obviously this is utter nonsense, but regardless an answer is needed.
Im really bad at what I do.
A+

The first part of that paragraph clearly states that it's class levels.

It can be taken 2 ways. Only for sorcerer levels or this way which I would argue it gets.

Say you take yor first 5 levels as sorcerer. 1st level 2 extra HP, 2nd 4 HP, 3rd 6HP, 4th 8 HP, 5th 10 HP. Now on your 6th level say you take something else, rogue for instance (hypothetical). At that level you would only get 10 extra HP because it is 2x your sorcerer level which is 5. At level 7 say you take another sorcerer level, you would then get 12 extra Hp because you went back and added another sorcerer level.

That is how i read it though.

It's not actually utter nonsense. It would be more useful if it worked as you asked, but unfortunately that's not how it works. With this ACF, you're basically forced to stay in sorcerer instead of entering a PrC, if you want to benefit from this ability. Otherwise, you end up paying the cost for it, but not actually gaining any benefit, as the cost is not based on sorcerer level.
