Yup I know the cleric is for turning. I guess more optimal would be Cleric 1/ Ur-Priest 4/ Eldritch Master 4/ True Necromancer 11 but you'd have to pull some crazy cheese.

EDIT: I'm retarded. Ur-Priest gives turning. Something else for the first level then

Ur Priest is also extremely difficult to get into before level 6....
Something about skill ranks and base fort/will save.

Skill points can be done with bloodlines and a retrainable feats. Base saves are a lot tougher though... We could do three different classes with good fort/will saves for our first three levels?

You can get a cleric as base class, then work into the Chameleon PrC. Get two levels of it for the floating feat, and choose the death domain in your base cleric, and choose the apropriate feats (the floating feat can't be used for requisites, I think).

Then you get into true necromancer with a single class, capable of casting arcane and divine and not hard to enter (you may want silverbrow human to get disguise as a class skill, tough). I would even distribute my true necromancer caster levels 5 to chameleon and 5 to cleric, and then get another 5 levels of chameleon for double aptitude.

Or if you fancy more an arcanist, you can have the sorcerer with the domain sorcerer variant, and choose the death domain. Might not be as great, but it is a possibility, and his class skills make it easier to qualify for chameleon. Knowledge (religion) might be a problem, tough.

While Ur-priest only removes spell casting from the cleric, ex-cleric rules state cleric's lose all class features.  So lets go crazy and see what we can do.

Human for bonus feat

Savage Bard 2/Human paragon 2/ Eldrich Master 2/ Ur-priest 1/Eldrich Master 2/Horned harbinger 1/ True Necromancer 10

Feats
L1 Open
L1 Iron Will
L3 Favored (Cityscape)
L4 (Paragon Bonus) Primary Contact (Cityscape)
L6 Spell Focus Evil
L8 (Bonus Metamagic Eldrich Master)
L9 Spell Focus Necromancy

Primary contact can push up knowledge arcane from a 7 at level 4 to an 8 quailifying for the Eldrich Master.  At level 3 of Eldrich Master, you get a spell slot one level higher than you can cast for one class, choose Ur-Priest.  Horned Harbinger grants the death domain and rebuke undead.  Savage bard varient gets good Fort and will saves with lots of skill points.  Overall though it does not seem worth it compared to a standard cleric or:

Cleric 2/ Human Paragon 2/ Eldrich Master 4/ True Necromancer 12

Are there any monster races that have access to the death domain  you can use with level buy-off?

You cannot advance the chameleon with PrC's that advance spell casting progression.

Nor can you use it to qualify for PrCs.
